"Junior and Jonathan were so very helpful and restored my very dirty couch to back to new (or almost new given the fact it s three years old). I will be using them again for future cleaning needs. Well done!"

"I was able to make an appointment within the same week that I called. James and Kyle arrived in the scheduled time slot. After walking the house and confirming the number and location of the vents (14 total, including the cold air intake), they worked quickly. They were friendly, neatly dressed and walked me through each of the cleaning steps. For each vent, they spread plastic dust sheets to cover the nearest furniture; removed and manually cleaned both sides of each vent cover and the directional slats; inserted the vacuum line with a revolving soft brush to clean each duct (also using a cleaning spray in each duct); replaced the vent cover and wiped away any stray marks on the walls; removed the plastic dust sheets and carefully vacuumed the area. The heater and fan in the attic were inspected and cleaned (no problems were found). The air filter was inspected, and, because it had been recently replaced, a new replacement was not necessary. The dryer vent was inspected and cleaned. And, they were done in less than 2 hours! The price was fair: a coupon for 10 vents for $299 + $25 for each additional vent."

"Moe did a great job on our carpets and upholstery. Our drapes were cleaned in place rather than taking them down. That was a good decision because the drapes are old and could not have with stood dry cleaning, and he was able remove water damage stains. I highly recommend All Shine Carpet Care."

"Amazing! Coming into a house they had a lot of built up grime and odors. I had someone come in before and do a deep clean, and it just wasn’t good. I hired LB janitorial, and they cleaned things so well! In a small area where the original cleaners had cleaned, LB Janitorial found a whole bag of gross junk! Every room smells and look great! They cleaned the bathrooms so well! I will be having them come back to do the outside windows!"

Cleaning questions, answered by experts

While a biohazard cleanup sounds like a scary process, knowing what to expect can help ease your concerns and set you up for success. It’s good to note that more than one professional might be needed depending on your situation, but that will be determined during the assessment. What you can expect during a home biohazard cleanup is the following:

  • Assessment: The first step in this process is for a biohazard cleanup professional to assess the damage. They create a report that includes the biohazard safety level, the needed damage cleanup, and the time it should take to complete the project.

  • Setup: The cleanup professional prepares the site to prevent cross-contamination and reduce toxicity risk. This process can include tarping and creating decontamination zones.

  • Removal of surface contamination: Any contaminated materials are removed from the area, starting with large materials followed by small ones. The professional can assess any floor-related damage once everything is removed from the site.

  • Salvaging items: The biohazard cleanup professionals assess which items can be saved and which are contaminated beyond the point of saving. Those deemed unsafe will be disposed of immediately.

  • Waste disposal: The next step is carefully disposing of the hazardous waste. Your professional will place the contaminated items in specific containers to keep the contamination from spreading.

  • Disinfection: The house will be disinfected and odor-neutralized. Even more minor details, like light switches and bulbs, will be disinfected so that they do not recontaminate the area in the future.

  • Restoration: Once the decontamination is complete, the last step is to restore the home. This includes repairing the damage to flooring, walls, or even the home's foundation.

If you're cleaning out your garage, taking everything out first and starting with a clean slate can help. Reviewing what you have and what you want to get rid of makes organizing your garage, thoroughly cleaning the space, and making any repairs easier. When you put back the items you’re keeping, use designated storage solutions to make it easier to find things and keep them tidy.

One of the best ways to prepare for a home biohazard cleanup is not to touch anything. Do not remove belongings, even if they are of value or importance, from the area as they are likely contaminated. It’s essential not to use any cleaning products of your own, as the cleaning company will be using chemicals that could interact with your products.

One thing you can do to prepare is take pictures of your space and belongings that need to be cleaned, especially if you plan on filing a claim with your insurance company. In addition, take time to make a list of items that are valuable, sentimental, or otherwise important. The cleanup company must evaluate these belongings to make sure they are safe.

Depending on the size and condition, it may take between two to five hours.

The best method for keeping your grout clean depends on the level of staining or discoloration. For light cleaning, use warm water and a stiff brush (specifically made for cleaning grout).

Tougher jobs call for a one-to-one solution of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray the area down, wait 5 to 10 minutes, then scrub with your brush. For even more cleaning power, add water to baking soda until it creates a paste and apply it before the vinegar. If the mess is too much, you can call a local tile and grout cleaner.
