"Extremely well! This was my second time using Styles and Tiles and I am overly satisfied. I purchase some expensive glass tiles for my backsplash and Styles and Tiles was able to install it perfectly. My first encounter with Styles and Tiles was three years ago when they installed the tile for my master bathroom and fireplace in my bedroom. It was a huge job I was desperate because I had hired a previous tile installer that did a horrible job. Styles and Tiles was recommended to me and I will continue to use them as my tile installer."

"Gal at Pearl Remodeling was knowledgable, detailed, thorough, timely, honest, and respectful from our first meeting, throughout all of his teams work, and beyond the close of the job. Gal was forthcoming with all of the information he had, and reached out (on the spot) for support when he reaches something he’s unsure of. Excellent communicator and a man of his word. Pearl Remodeling will be my first call for future projects. Below is a list of the work we did with Pearl Remodeling: Family Room: - level the floor using multiple processes & materials - install tile & new baseboards - remove existing fireplace mantel, convert fireplace to gas, paint inside of fireplace, install gas logs, patch & paint wall around fireplace. Kitchen: - remove old flooring in kitchen and install tile. - there was a leak under our sink, and Gal’s team replaced the board inside the kitchen sink cabinet after it was damaged, that was not their responsibility. Full Home: - measure/assist in window order with outside vendor, install new windows and remove the old ones. Even came back after job was completed to swap bathroom windows per our revised request on how they should open (open to center of room instead of open at ends of the room). - new construction windows in two locations. - install attic insulation"

"I hired Cielo to remodel a small bathroom. On the plus side, they did the job at the price they quoted and I am generally happy with the way it looks. The job was finished in January and I waited 8 months to write review because I wanted to see how the work held up. So far it’s fine. The tile separated from the base in the shower and on the backsplash. I’ll have to put some caulk in there. And there’s a big floor to ceiling crack in the wall where they repaired the wall near the shower. But otherwise it’s fine. On the minus side, the whole process was a pretty bad experience and a lot of the work was shoddy, unsupervised as far as I could tell, and had to be done a second time after I inspected it. The bid process was very hard sell “I’m not leaving until you sign.” I’m a woman and they insisted a man be present for the conversation. They bid a lot higher than the 3 other people I talked to, but convinced me to go with them based on the workers comp insurance, reviews, portfolio, etc. I thought for the extra I was signing up for higher quality, less stress experience. I was wrong. The first and biggest problem was the shower tile, pic below. I got it from a vendor they recommended. I came home and could see the bullnose edges didn’t match, a bit grey compared to the white subway tile. I pointed out the mistake and they agreed to remove the bullnose, get the correct bullnose and re-install. I came home and the guy had reinstalled a new box of the grayish bullnose. Same mistake twice. Not inspecting the tile or really paying attention to what he was doing. At this point we find out that the vendor is out of the correct tile and no more can be had. The tile company was nice about it, agreed to supply new tile that did have matching bullnose. But we stopped work and I argued with Cielo for a couple of weeks over who was going to pay for the repeat labor. My position was that the tile guy failed to inspect the tile and installed it twice, the second time after he was aware of the problem. Also, I felt like there should have been some professional supervision of the work. It was stressful, but in the end they did not charge me extra for the labor involved in doing the job 3 times. I would say they treated me fairly. That was really the worst of it, but it was a stressful couple of weeks. Other things- they declined to install the mirror, they felt that was outside the scope of their bid and it was custom cut so it had to be installed by the glazier. OK. So I asked shouldn’t we do the electrical work first so the electrician doesn’t have to work in a tiny outlet hole. They said no, mirror first. So I had it installed. And of course their electrician came and while installing the outlet cracked my custom mirror. I bought a bigger outlet and covered most of the crack, but there’s a nickel sized defect I can still see that bugs me. Towel bar and fixtures - all fell off the wall in a couple of days. They just put heavy metal into drywall without using drywall screws. They came back and re-installed. The sink leaked. I’d come home to a puddle every day. They fixed it maybe 5 times before finally replacing a piece of pipe. The handles on the cabinets and the shower ball were not installed level. These guys don’t own a level. The shower bar is subtle. You have to be OCD to see it, but once seen can’t unsee it. The cabinet handles, however, are really crooked and unevenly spaced. It was as half-assed as it could have possible been done. Can't be fixed because holes are drilled into the vanity. One more thing, they ruined my carpet. There is a black spot trail all the way from the front door, up the stairs in the hallway and in my bedroom. They didn’t bother to put down protection. I tried professional steam cleaning but it didn’t help. I have to completely replace the flooring. Picture below. The carpet is like this from the bathroom all the way out the door. The ceiling vent. There was a new one, but they re-installed the old one and had to come back and re-do. I think maybe this job was a little beneath what they usually do. They thought they could just phone it in and I’d be none the wiser. Maybe because I’m a woman. But the half-ass work I think ended up costing them a lot of extra money because everything had to be done several times. They probably should not have taken the job, as they clearly didn’t have the manpower or inclination to supervise it. I think they are used to higher end clients and that’s probably where their energies were focused. I also think they are flippers- the goal being to pass a 30 second second walk-through, not long-lasting quality work. So if the towel bars fall off in 48 hours it's no big deal to them. It all turned out Ok in the end- I like my bathroom. I’m going to bring in a handy-man to fix things. I think everybody has stressful construction experiences, and maybe this is all very typical. But I wouldn’t use them again."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.

Tile countertops can last up to 100 years when properly maintained. Ceramic and porcelain tiles are the most durable types and can last as long as natural stone countertops like granite, marble, and quartz. Tile countertops are much cheaper than natural stone countertops, making them an excellent option for a homeowner with a limited budget.

Options include clay, concrete, and slate tiles. Each offers unique durability, aesthetics, and costs.

The number of boxes of tile you need depends entirely on the amount of tile in each box or case. Different manufacturers package their tiles differently, and boxes contain different amounts of tile depending on the size, shape, and material. Often, the amount of area that a case will cover is listed in the product description. To calculate the number of boxes you need, take the total square feet of the space and divide it by the number of square feet the box will cover.
