"I would work with Mike and his team again in a heartbeat! They did both an addition to and an extensive remodel of our 1959 home. Mike is a great communicator, reliable, and trustworthy. He has good relationships with all of his subs, so they show up when he needs them to. It’s a huge deal as far as keeping the project on track. He keeps track of an amazing number of details and keeps clients apprised of progress and the inevitable surprises that come with opening up the walls of a 65-year old home. The few times I noticed issues with subcontractors’ work he got them in fast to fix it. A project like this is a huge investment of time and resources. I feel lucky to have had Mike lead the way for us!"

Small jobs welcome

"He was prompt and very polite. He did a good job, was fast and cleaned up after himself. He did several jobs for us in about a half a day. We really appreciated his help. He repaired holes in the wall of the water heater closet that had been cut out because of a leak. He repaired the sink drain and the faucet. He also took out two raised flowerbeds in the front yard and repaired a third one. He rebuilt one box. He also hauled away all the old wood."

"Jordan performed multiple jobs for me including hanging a few art pieces, fixing my leaking faucet, and installing grab bars in my mother's shower. All projects turned out perfect. I will be contacting him first in the future!"

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"Working with Ilan and IY Development and Renovation INC was an absolute pleasure. We hired them for a complete interior remodel, and they transformed our space into something truly spectacular. Ilan has an eye for design and was able to incorporate our style while making it feel new and elevated. The attention to detail and the quality of work are top-notch, and the team was incredibly respectful of our home throughout the process. Highly recommended for anyone looking for seamless renovations!"

"Everything I spent was very good, they did a very good job. I love the bathroom. They just came in, did the work and they finished when they said they would. I've got 4 quotes and they were the cheapest and the quality was great. No problem at all."

Doors questions, answered by experts

You can use any wood to make an interior door, provided it’s the right thickness. Common options for painted doors include pine or poplar for the stiles, rails, and mullions, and paint-grade plywood for the panels. You can also opt to make your own panels out of pine or poplar if you intend on staining the door instead. Opting for oak, maple, or another hardwood is another great option for a high-end door that will last for decades, but the wood will cost significantly more.

Butterfly hinges are one of the most common types of hinges and you can use them all over your home. Though they’re common on doors, cabinets, and shutters, you can even find them on decor, like jewelry boxes, music boxes, and trunks. Doors may have basic butterfly hinges, while the hinges on cabinets and decor may be more ornate.

Instead of a bifold door, you might look into installing French doors, pocket doors, or sliding doors. Each has its own pros and cons. French doors offer the dual-door advantages that bifold doors do, and pocket doors are excellent space savers—though you’ll need to create a wall cavity to have them installed.

Yes, you can clean door hinges with vinegar. The cleaner your door hinges are, the less likely they are to cause that annoying squeaking sound. Simply fill a container with equal parts water and vinegar, dip a microfiber cloth in the mixture, and use it to clean the hinges. You can do this while the hinges are connected or remove them, and wash them piece by piece.

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.
