"We remodeled our kitchen with Gaetaway Electric, and let me say how impressed and pleased we are! Not only was Jacob professional, but he was also very communicative and detailed with every step. He is very knowledgeable in the electrical field, and gave us several different options and ideas. We were very hesitant on remodeling because we knew that with a lot of contractor work, it can take longer than what is expected. But Jacob was sure to finish on time, and we didnâ t experience any delays! We truly feel that this is a passion to Jacob, and he definitely goes above and beyond, and it shows in his work. Not only will he be our go to person for any of our electrical needs, but we have already referred him to our family and friends! Hands down, excellent service!!"

"We recently had Mega Power Electric Inc install a solar system and panels. The President and provided excellent communication all the way through the process. He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. We are very satisfied with our solar system and I highly recommended Mega Power Electric Inc."

"We hired Gary in January to upgrade the writing in our garage, which he did successfully. The second half of the writing project between the house and the garage remains unfinished. Overhead lights in the kitchen were replaced, but didn't finish replacing the lights in the hall. One light in the kitchen has been blinking and we haven't been able to show him to find out why. His work is good, he is a nice guy, it's just we are 't has been difficult to get back. We call, three times we have waited for his arrival and then he didn't arrive. Now it's mid-March and we are still mid project. Going out today to find someone to finish the job.

Electrical questions, answered by experts

When hiring for electrical projects in Soledad, prioritize professionals with proven experience in local building codes and agricultural systems. Ensure they understand seismic safety and are familiar with the permit process in Monterey County. Look for contractors who can coordinate with local utilities and provide strong insurance coverage. Request references from Soledad homeowners or farms to confirm reliability and expertise with the area’s unique electrical demands.

Helpful?

In Soledad, energy-efficient upgrades like solar panels, LED lighting, and smart thermostats are in high demand. Homeowners often install smart irrigation controls and electric vehicle charging stations, reflecting the area’s agricultural focus and sustainability goals. Whole-house surge protection, upgraded air conditioning circuits, and outdoor entertainment wiring are also popular. Safety features such as interconnected smoke detectors and GFCI outlets are increasingly prioritized in modern electrical projects.

Helpful?

For electrical work in Soledad, keep a digital multimeter, non-contact voltage tester, and insulated hand tools. Weather-resistant wire nuts and GFCI outlets are essential, especially for outdoor or agricultural use. Stock up on surge protectors and weatherproof boxes to handle Soledad’s climate and seismic risks. For properties with irrigation or well pumps, heavy-duty outdoor outlets and timer switches tailored to local agricultural needs are highly recommended.

Helpful?

In Soledad, homeowners often overlook the need for proper permits before starting electrical projects, risking delays and code violations. Common mistakes include underestimating the electrical load for agricultural equipment like well pumps, neglecting to upgrade aging panels in older homes, and failing to address seismic safety requirements. Ignoring the high demand for air conditioning during hot summers can also lead to overloaded circuits and future issues.

Helpful?

Before beginning electrical projects in Soledad, confirm permit requirements with local authorities and check for any neighborhood or HOA guidelines. If your project involves digging, always identify underground utilities first. Ensure your plans align with energy efficiency standards and consider wildfire safety, especially for rural properties. Coordinating with utility providers and planning for Soledad’s hot summers can help prevent unexpected delays and future electrical problems.
