"We remodeled our kitchen with Gaetaway Electric, and let me say how impressed and pleased we are! Not only was Jacob professional, but he was also very communicative and detailed with every step. He is very knowledgeable in the electrical field, and gave us several different options and ideas. We were very hesitant on remodeling because we knew that with a lot of contractor work, it can take longer than what is expected. But Jacob was sure to finish on time, and we didnâ t experience any delays! We truly feel that this is a passion to Jacob, and he definitely goes above and beyond, and it shows in his work. Not only will he be our go to person for any of our electrical needs, but we have already referred him to our family and friends! Hands down, excellent service!!"

"If thereâ s one honest business left in the world itâ s this one. Not just that but Wes is skilled, trustworthy, and takes pride in his work which means the outcome is important to him personally. Installing my garage door opener was quite challenging due to a gas pipe in the way but he skillfully solved the problem. He has also done other work at my house like fixing and adding electrical outlets. I definitely recommend this business."

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Salinas sometimes skip required permits or hire non-licensed workers, risking safety and code violations. Overlooking the need for panel upgrades when adding new appliances or solar panels is common, especially in older homes. Not installing GFCI outlets in damp areas, neglecting to seal outdoor fixtures, and ignoring the impact of agricultural dust or chemicals can all create long-term electrical issues.

Helpful?

The coastal climate in Salinas means moisture-resistant materials and proper weatherproofing are crucial for lasting electrical work. Following local building codes, including energy efficiency and seismic standards, is essential. Contractors often recommend corrosion-resistant wiring and fittings due to salt air. Planning for agricultural dust or older home layouts can also help ensure your electrical system remains safe and reliable for years.

Helpful?

In Salinas, older homes with outdated wiring, thick walls, or hard-to-reach electrical panels can make upgrades more complex. Concrete slab foundations may limit where new circuits can be run. Signs like frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or two-prong outlets suggest your home’s layout could pose challenges. If you notice these issues, consult a local electrician before starting any major electrical project.

Helpful?

In Salinas, electrical contractors often specialize in residential wiring, commercial electrical systems, and agricultural electrical services for farms and greenhouses. Solar installation experts are also common, reflecting the area’s push for renewable energy. Some contractors focus on electrical panel upgrades for older homes, while others offer emergency repairs or specialize in lighting design for both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Helpful?

Upgrading electrical systems in Salinas can make your home safer by reducing fire and shock risks, especially with proper GFCI protection for humid conditions. Enhanced lighting helps brighten foggy days, while new wiring supports modern appliances and technology. Energy-efficient upgrades, like LED lighting and solar-ready systems, can lower utility bills and increase your home’s value, making daily living more comfortable and convenient.
