"Kaleb & Kam are truly incredible! We have worked with many contractors on our home renovations and they are a dream team. The most important thing you need in a contractor is honesty and reliability. They are incredibly great at communication and open to feedback so if you need something a little different, they do the right thing not the easy thing. They are proud of their work. Our bathroom is beautiful, I can’t say enough good things. They show up consistently, are so easy to talk to and really truly care. I felt safe and valued when we worked with them. I hope we get to work them again in the future! On top of that, their pricing is extremely fair. You just can’t get better than Crown Point, they do great business with a heart."

We did a herringbone pattern on the back wall as well as a large niche. The side walls are a marble tile and we did a single slope shower pan to a line drain on the floor with a small glass hex tile.
The Shower
We build up this tub deck to match the new cast iron tub that was installed. We surrounded it in a 12x24" marble tile.

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

A finished basement does not always count as square footage, as this varies by state regulations. In areas that allow below-grade spaces to be included in a home's official square footage, the basement must typically meet certain conditions. These conditions often include having a functional egress and being a livable space with flooring, finished walls, and temperature control. To be certain, contact your local assessor to confirm your area's specific policies regarding basement square footage.

If you’re not sure which method of raising the ceiling is best for you, here are a couple of considerations to help you make that decision. A professional ceiling company will be able to help you determine the best option for your home.

  • How long you are planning to live there: although raising the basement ceiling will increase the value of your home, if you’re planning to sell the house, then go for raising the house.

  • The condition of the foundation: to lower the floors, your foundation has to be intact whereas raising the house will allow you to restore the damaged foundation.

Lifting a house and adding a basement is one way to add usable square footage. Lifting or jacking a house is a complex process, and it can be expensive, not to mention that you won’t be able to live in your house while it’s lifted, due to safety concerns. Lifting a house should only be done by experienced professionals.

Yes, most general contractors require an initial down payment, typically between 10% and 25% of the total project cost. This upfront payment helps cover the costs of materials, permits, and subcontractors. The remaining project costs are usually billed after specific project milestones are reached or on set completion dates, as outlined in your contract. Be wary of contractors who require a significant deposit of 50% or more upfront, as this could be a red flag for a scam.

Building a bar in the basement will likely add value to your home, although it’s unlikely that you’ll see a significant return on investment (ROI) unless you plan on using the space for you and your guests. If you think you’ll use the area frequently, though, it’s probably worth the investment, and you should see a bump in value if or when you sell your property.
