"Extremely satisfied with the work by All Cote painting. They are very detailed in their work and have very high standards for the final product. They are also very good with paint colors and spent extra time with me to get the color right for a difficult color match. They went the extra mile to make sure I was completely satisfied with their work. They painted the outside of my home and also some rooms inside. The walls inside required texturing and their work was meticulous. Best of all, they are trustworthy and nice guys to work with. I highly recommend this company."

"I hired Juan to sand and restain our double front door and to apply solid stain to our fence. He did a fantastic job on both. He was prompt, courteous and professional. His pricing was good and it was a good value for what he delivered. I would not hesitate to hire him again."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

Whether you can paint over your existing paint depends on what’s on there. Most of the time, you’ll want to sand down or scrape off the paint that’s currently coating your surface. Epoxy paint, for example, won’t let new paint stick to the surface. Latex paint is more forgiving and will accept a new coat, but a primer is recommended if you’re switching colors.

Your tool of choice ultimately comes down to personal preference. Many DIYers prefer applying stain with a lint-free rag, but others stick with a paint brush or a roller. Wipe the stain and work it into the wood, working with and against the grain. If you’re applying multiple coats, allow the stain to dry for around four hours between coats.

Oxygen bleach uses hydrogen peroxide as a base and won’t harm wood when using it as a cleaner. On the other hand, chlorine bleach breaks down wood at the cellular level and causes irreversible harm. Although you may not see immediate damage to wood after exposing it to chlorine bleach, its strength and integrity are now compromised.
