Keep in mind, too, that many household products have the potential to pose a health hazard, such as cleaning products.

You can lay carpet by yourself, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should. DIY carpet installation can save you on labor costs, but you’ll have to pay more to get the right tools and equipment first. A knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller are a few pieces of equipment you’ll need that you may not already have lying around. Instead of measuring the total width of your staircase with 2 added inches for foldover, simply measure the width you’d like the runner to cover. Runners generally come in standard sizes, so you may need to approximate what would look best in your space.

Most bathrooms can be turned into a wet room, so long as the flooring can be sloped slightly for draining purposes and the room has proper plumbing. A skilled home renovation professional can evaluate your bathroom to determine if it’s a good candidate for converting into a wet room. If you only have one bathroom in your home, a wet room may not be the best idea for resale purposes since many homebuyers like having a bathtub.
