"I definitely recommend Brothers Landscaping. I wanted to install a sod lawn for my small backyard as well as reposition and increase my sprinklers for maximum coverage of the lawn and bordering plants. I was rather anxious as I’ve had bad luck with lawns in the past. Luis Vela patiently explained to me the best way to approach my project. He recommended a new timer (which he taught me how to use), new water valves and a better drainage cover. He took out my old lawn (what there was left of it), graded the dirt for best drainage, put on fertilizer and finished the sprinklers. When all this was accomplished, he put in fresh, excellent quality tall fescue sod. Luis came out several times to check on the sprinkler coverage and selected the watering timing that he recommended. He responded to my every concern and I am pleased to say that I love the results of my new, luscious lawn. He was expensive, but his services are worth the price."

"Kent responded to my call right away and visited our house free of charge the next day.  We told him what we had in mind- removal of so-called lawn, now mostly bare and weeds, and installation of paths and drought tolerant plantings.  It is a large yard and we did not have the imagination or strength to tackle this project on our own.  Kent sketched his ideas for us which included creating mounds to make our flat yard more interesting.  He gave us a cost estimation right away. They began work just a few days later. We were glad that he had his own crew so that there were no delays between parts of the project.  The mounds created were around existing trees.  They installed large boulders and agave(?) plants near the boulders and smaller low water need plants. 100s of plantings total including sago palms.  The D.G. paths were winding around very artistically.  The new drip irrigation should save water while delivering more moisture to the right places. We got more than we expected and though it was expensive, it was more than worth it. After the job was done, his workers returned to fix a couple of small glitches.  We appreciated that he followed up so quickly after the job was paid for.  The front yard suffered from the bobcat tracks but that was unavoidable and the lawn there was not in good shape anyway.  We are happy to have a yard that is attractive and low maintenance.

"I had contact with both Chris Payne, owner, and Grady Moore, Dir. of Business Development. I worked mostly with Grady. He always responded promptly to phone messages and e-mails. The workers came when promised. Grady was on-site every day. There was some fine tuning needed at completion and Grady finished the work to my total satisfaction. There are a lot of companies out there, so I did careful comparison shopping - everything from length of nails (some companies use staples) to tightness of thatch at grass base. They have the best product and terrific customer service."

"I loved their customer service but they just didn't provide the type of service I was looking for. I need a large overhaul of already-grown weeds in my yard (not just prevention) and, so, they don't take care of weed removal. If I wasn't already with another weed control company, I'd then to TruGreen."

FAQs for weed maintenance projects in Ramona, CA

The cost to reseed or overseed a lawn is about $1,050 on average, ranging from $450 to $1,700, depending on lawn size, seed type, and location. Popular seed types for residential lawns include bahia, fescue, and Bermuda. Keep in mind that it costs $0.10 to $0.20 per square foot to seed or overseed a lawn. Additional cost factors may include:

  • Fertilization: $80–$400

  • Soil testing: $700–$2,100

  • Yard cleanup and leaf removal: $200–$560

  • Treating weeds: $110–$325

  • Mowing: $50–$210

On average, the cost of lawn fertilization is $250, ranging from $80 to $400, depending on the size of the lawn, its current condition, additional treatments, number of applications, fertilizer type, and location. Keep in mind that labor, tools, and equipment make up 80% to 90% of the total cost of lawn fertilization. Additional lawn treatment options include:

  • Lime treatment: $100–$150 per 1,000 square feet

  • Crabgrass treatment: $30–$80

  • Grub treatment: $30–$80

  • Mulching: $150–$400

  • Dethatching: $265–$295

Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.

When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:

  • Location

  • Yard size

  • Project size

  • Materials

  • Land preparation

  • Type of landscaping

Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000
