"I used to perform most of my own pool maintenance including chemicals, filter cleaning and fixing equipment such as pool sweepers so I understand what goes into a pool service. Unfortunately with an ailing back and some long work hours, I hired Luis to take over my DE filter cleaning. That was 8 years ago and since he has replaced 2 different pool pumps and installed a new DE filter. I cannot be happier with the service that he provides. Luis is a hard working, honest individual but most importantly he has expert knowledge and deep experience with pool maintenance and repairs. I highly recommend R1 Pools as your next pool company."

"Jose Is amazing! I had a previous pool cleaning service company handle my pool and they were no where near as good as Jose. Jose was able to find the leak in my pool when others couldnt. Highly recommended Jose! He makes the pool water crystal clear and clean! Amazing work!"

"I have used Donald Baker Spa Repair & Service twice now (different issues) and remain very impressed with the service. Sam is very responsive and knowledgeable. He calls the day before to confirm the appointment and arrives during the scheduled time. It was raining lightly during the most recent visit but he continued with the appointment cheerfully. He quickly diagnoses the problem and completes expert repairs. He always explains and shows you the issue at hand. He has a deep knowledge of the different spa models reaching back many years and he is always professional and courteous. I will be calling him for all future repairs/services needed and highly recommend his services."

Customers say: Quality work

"We are very happy with our decision to hire Vik’s Pool Service. The person doing our pool is the best. He’a very diligent and very professional. Our pool has never looked so clean. With our former pool guy, we were led to believe the problem was our pool. It turned out all we have to do is hire a new pool guy. We’re happy to have found Vik’s."

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

No. In fact, some owners prefer to “summerize” their hot tubs and use them primarily over winter to enjoy the contrast of cold and hot water. It’s possible to keep the tub filled and running year-round, and some pros may even recommend this method compared to the work and risks of a full winterization every year.

However, keeping the hot tub running will require additional resources. You’ll use more power and more chemicals to keep it in good shape. Weigh the pros and cons of your situation before making a decision.

Properly maintaining your hot tub will prevent serious issues from occurring down the road. You should replace the filter once a year, regularly look for and repair small cracks in the shell, and test the water quality every few months. You can do this yourself for less than $100 per year.

You can also hire a hot tub service to service your hot tub annually to identify problems early, which could save you money in the long run. They cost about $100 to $200 per call.

Generally, it is more cost-effective and energy-efficient to leave your hot tub on all the time rather than turning it on and off. Reheating a hot tub from a cold temperature consumes a significant amount of energy, so maintaining a constant temperature is usually more economical, especially with frequent use.

For daily or weekly use, it's recommended to keep the water at a constant, reduced temperature, such as between 80 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and then increase it to your desired temperature before getting in. If you know you won't be using the hot tub for an extended period, you can lower the temperature to save on energy costs. However, if you use it very infrequently, you can turn it off completely, as long as there is no risk of the water freezing.

Most hot tub cracks can be repaired unless they have gone beneath the acrylic. If so, you may need a professional to determine if the crack is repairable or if you should consider hot tub replacement instead.

A compact unit designed for two to three people typically weighs approximately 500 pounds in its empty state. On the other hand, a larger hot tub meant for up to six people can weigh around 1,000 pounds when empty. Materials used also impact weight. Less expensive hot tubs are typically lighter because they are made of molded plastic or fiberglass.
