"Top quality professional service!  Prompt and punctual.  Solved and corrected garage door problems of loud shrill and squeaky noises and sticking issues.  Performed entire service including replacing all door rollers lube and problem fixing and re-balancing with speed, knowledge and professionalism, and did not try to sell me anything I didn't need.  Explained everything that was done and provided all old parts that were replaced and did not ask for additional fees over what I paid for the bargain coupon.  I highly recommend this company for any garage door issues and Robert, who performed all this work, represented the company well.  My garage door now operates smoothly and quietly like I've never known before.

"My neighbors were very unhappy with the way he pruned the trees. That is the one I guess I wasn't able to be here at the time. I may be scheduled for the work to be done in May and that's when I wasn't home, later in May. It ended up being more and you are going to ask me how much and I don't remember. They did a good job but they just hacked at the trees.  I wasn't here to supervise them. If I had been here, then they probably wouldn't have done some hacking on the trees that they did.  I think they were responsive and professional."

"After having worked with Nathan previously on deck and driveway, we decided to remodel kitchen. The work was efficient, the crew was very good at what they did and courteous. Nathan is very easy to get in contact with for questions etc. Any small hiccups were accommodated and made up for. All of the work looks and works very well.

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

The cost to install a gate varies widely, with a typical range between $1,500 and $7,000. The average cost is around $3,500. However, the final price can be as low as $200 for a simple gate or as high as $12,000 for a large, automated security gate.

Key factors that determine the installation cost include:

  • Gate Material: This is a primary cost factor. Chain-link and vinyl are the most affordable, while wood and PVC are mid-range options. Wrought iron, aluminum, and other metals are the most expensive materials.

  • Automation: Automated gates are significantly more expensive than manual ones because they require motors, sensors, controls, and electrical installation.

  • Size and Type: The dimensions and style of the gate (e.g., swinging vs. sliding) will impact the price.

  • Security Level: Gates with advanced security features will increase the overall cost.

While entryways are seldom added to a house to increase the sale price, they are commonly constructed to increase the livability and enjoyment of a home. So, while they aren’t necessary, they do make for a more comfortable and luxurious-feeling home. Entryways are most valuable in areas of extreme heat, cold, or rain, as the space between the living area and the outdoors helps keep the outdoors outside. Plus, snow, wet boots, and mud are all corralled into one space that’s easy to clean.

The best direction for a gate to swing depends on its location and purpose, but swinging inward is the general rule. An inward swing is often considered safer, prevents the gate from opening into public spaces like a sidewalk, and may be required by local building codes.

There are exceptions and specific considerations. If your property is on a slope, an inward swing might not be possible. For a deck gate, it's safest to have it swing away from any steps. In a backyard, the direction can be a matter of preference, though an inward swing can be helpful when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

Regardless of direction, ensure the gate can open fully without hitting any objects or blocking spaces. While an inward swing is standard, a gate that can swing both in and out offers the most flexibility if your setup allows for it.

Many security doors come with clear and easy-to-follow installation instructions. Some even include predrilled holes and mounting hardware, making the process smoother. If you're a handy DIY enthusiast, you might find it enjoyable to take on installing a security door.

However, if you're uncomfortable with DIY tasks or want to ensure a flawless installation, you can always seek the help of a local door installer. They have the expertise and experience to get the job done efficiently and correctly.

Your wooden gate post hole should be a third to a half of the height of the post. Also, note that the diameter of the post hole should be three times the diameter of the post. You should set the post in concrete to ensure a long-lasting and durable post that will withstand the test of time.
