Customers say: True professional

"I recently had the pleasure of working with Ben and his team on a major concrete project at my property in San Mateo, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Our project involved constructing a 180-foot-long sidewalk and a 16-car garage driveway on a busy street, which required precision, organization, and expertise. Ben and his team exceeded my expectations in every way. From the very beginning, Ben was professional, transparent, and detail-oriented. He walked me through the entire process, including securing the necessary city permits and clearly marking all underground utility lines to avoid any issues. His attention to detail and proactive approach gave me complete confidence in his abilities. During the project, we encountered an unexpected challenge: two segments of a corrupted underground sewer line. Ben handled the situation with remarkable professionalism and flexibility. He coordinated seamlessly with my plumber, adjusting his team's schedule to allow for the replacement of a total of 40 feet of 3" sewer lines. Additionally, he replaced the incoming copper water line without any delays or complications. This level of collaboration and problem-solving truly set Ben apart. The execution of the project was flawless. Ben and his team were incredibly organized and committed to staying on schedule. They arrived early every morning and worked diligently until late afternoon, ensuring consistent progress. It was clear that Ben treated my project as a top priority, and his dedication as a project manager was evident throughout. The quality of their work is outstanding. The finished sidewalk and driveway are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. Ben's quote was fair and reasonable, and he delivered exceptional value for the investment. I am so grateful to have found Ben and his team. If you're looking for a reliable, skilled, and professional concrete contractor who can handle unexpected challenges with ease, Ben is the best person for the job. I will definitely hire him again for any future projects and highly recommend him to anyone in need of top-notch concrete work. Thank you, Ben and team, for making this project such a positive experience! Your expertise, flexibility, and dedication are truly appreciated."

"We were contacted by the Owner, Vince Buggiano.  He made an appointment with us to provide an estimate and arrived as scheduled.  We found him to be courteous, knowledgeable and professional.

Mr. Buggiano provided his Contractor's license number (which I verified was in good standing on the California State Web Site) and verified he had liability insurance and workmen's compensation coverage for his workers  His estimate was in line with two of the three we received, however we really liked his attitude and willingness to address our concerns.  He had a "can do" attitude and made several other suggestion to help us with landscaping around our home.  For example we were concerned about our terracotta tile roof and possible damage due to the proximity of the tree to the house.  He assured us his men would not need to go on the roof and would be very careful, tying the limbs where necessary to prevent their dropping on the roof.  I watched the workers perform all the work and as he stated not a single branch hit the roof, only one small twig.  When his men were about to start grinding the stump, he pointed out potential sprinkler lines and had them take extra care, even though I told him I would take care of any damage to the sprinklers since the roots were so close and not hold them responsible (they did not damage a single line or sprinkler).

We were so impressed we recommended him to a neighbor who had watched his men at work.  Our neighbor had them prune their Olive tree while they were there and was very pleased with the price and the result.  We are having them back to trim an Oak tree in out back yard and to have him build a stamped concrete patio (About Green also does Concrete work and pavers)

"Paul is a reliable contractor with a good crew. They came on time and seal-coated my driveway with great care for details. Excellent communications and none of the corner-cutting I saw from other less-professional contractors. I highly recommend Paul and his Pacific West Asphalt."

Concrete Resurfacing questions, answered by experts

The average cost to repair a concrete driveway ranges from approximately $830 to $2,800, with a typical project costing around $1,765. The price varies widely depending on the type and extent of the damage. Minor crack repairs can be as low as $0.10 to $0.15 per linear foot and may be a DIY project. More significant repairs are priced per square foot: replacing a damaged slab costs about $6 to $14, while raising or leveling sunken concrete costs $3 to $25. Resurfacing is another option, costing around $3 to $5 per square foot. Factors influencing the total price include the size of the affected area, whether reinforcement is needed, and labor costs.

Concrete contractors typically charge anywhere from $6 to $14 per square foot. Cost factors include job size, site prep, base material, accessibility, your location, concrete finish, and concrete thickness. Removal of existing concrete, asphalt, deck, pavers, and grass will cost anywhere from $1 to $6 per square foot. Homeowners can often save money by removing and disposing of existing pavers, decks, and grass. Breaking up and hauling away concrete and asphalt is difficult and time-consuming without the proper equipment and may be worth having the pros do that work.

The best way to determine if ceiling cracks are structural is to hire a ceiling contractor to inspect the cracks and provide a professional opinion. That said, you might be able to make an educated guess based on the size and appearance of the crack. Larger cracks, cracks accompanied by sagging or discoloration, and cracks that travel from the ceiling down the walls are all signs of structural issues.

Properly maintained, resurfacing typically lasts 5-10 years. Factors like surface usage and exposure to chemicals affect longevity.

A layer of exposed aggregate concrete should be 1 to 2 inches thick if you’re installing it on top of existing concrete. If you’re pouring a new slab with the finish, slab thickness will depend on the application. Exposed aggregate concrete driveways should be 4 to 6 inches thick in most cases or 8 to 12 inches for commercial vehicles. Sidewalks, patios, and walkways should be 4 inches thick.
