"My rental home laminate countertops were badly stained from years of use and abuse from previous tenants, so it was time for a change! I got into contact with Dawn who worked out the logistics of everything and patiently explained what would and would not work. On installation day, Tom worked quickly and efficiently. The countertops were cut and installed within a few hours and he helped us with installing our new kitchen sink and garbage disposal. It has been a few days now and I am still staring at my new kitchen in awe! I feel like the people who built this rental home used shortcuts when they worked on the kitchen, so I am relieved to know that my kitchen was re-done properly. I highly recommend Tom Foley Installation Inc. They are communicative, transparent about the work, and very fairly priced."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Dane Westby and his entire staff completed our project within the quoted time frame. They were extremely professional, very reasonably priced of the 3 bids we acquired, left the project clean at the end of each working day, and Dane himself was very communicative. We were able to text him with questions and updates and received almost immediate responses every time. We will use him again for our next countertop project. Highly recommend!"

"Left a message with Paul for an estimate. He called back a couple days later and was able to stop by immediately. He gave me a quote for a standard bathtub job and I was able to schedule the work for two days later. On the day of the work he called and said he was running a bit late. Once he arrived, he went to work quickly. I left him in the house to work as it was not occupied yet. I came back to a brand new looking tub! Paul made this an easy, quick, and clean job. I wish all home projects were this smooth.

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can remove a countertop without breaking it. It is possible to save your countertop to use in your new kitchen, donate it, or sell it! You’ll just need to work carefully as you follow the removal steps above. If you’re not sure you can get the job done without causing a little damage, call in a pro for peace of mind.

Yes, many services include the removal and disposal of old countertops. Confirm with your installer.

Installing new kitchen countertops costs $1,850 to $4,450, with an average price of $3,140. Some materials, like marble and granite, are more expensive than others. Additionally, the size of the countertop impacts the overall price. Labor accounts for 10% to 20% of the overall project cost. Add-ons, like edging and corner treatments, also increase the cost.

Fortunately, there are many types of heatproof countertops. Granite, quartzite, concrete, and stainless steel are all fiery contenders. These surfaces work best in busy kitchens where hot pots, pans, and baking sheets are part of the daily routine. Plus, their durability means you get a long-lasting work surface that won’t flinch at a bit of heat or heavy use. However, many stone and concrete counters require a sealer, which is typically not heatproof.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.
