"Contracted Federal Building and Roofing with Richard and his team after Listening to Richard's suggestions during the estimate. Had bad water damage to many Rafter Tails as well as a severe leak in the garage, Had several Contractors out for estimates some wanting to go a much more expensive route to repair the damaged wood on the Rafters as well as suggesting a complete Torch down on the entire roof which was not needed, which came with a less than desirable Warranty along with higher costs. Richard gave me peace of mind with his knowledge and suggestions which in turn provided a much longer Warranty and cheaper more effective route to repairing the damaged Rafter tails, all at a very reasonable price compared to other estimates. Any Contractor should have been able to provide me with these suggestions and alternatives but failed to do so. Richard and his team were Professional, polite, cleaned up thoroughly each and every day and completed the job on time as scheduled."

"I can't recommend Reign Roofing enough! They completed our steep roof project in just one week, and the quality of work is excellent. After receiving quotes from 10 other roofers, Reign Roofing stood out for its professionalism, reasonable pricing, and transparency. Our insurance (USAA) was difficult, offering only half of the replacement cost, but Reign Roofing worked with them to submit a detailed estimate and get our roof fully covered. We’re grateful for their hard work and help navigating the insurance process. Thank you, Reign Roofing!"

"We are giving Hoyt Roofing a 5 Star rating, because of the excellent job they did on the installation of our new roof. The whole process only took four days and the workers went over and above to keep us informed of the progress and maintaining a clean work area. We were impressed from the initial meeting where we discussed and deciding on the terms and conditions to completion of the job. They were not pushy or try to upsell their products. We highly recommend this company to anyone who needs a new roof."

Customers say: True professional

"We purchased our new home and we were in desperate need of roof repairs. Initially, we thought that we would have to replace the entire roof, but Chad at Netherton Roofing Company was confident that he could replace what was needed instead of doing a complete tear off and re-roofing. He knew he could do the repairs which would minimize our cost. We met with Chad and he was so honest and explained what was needed. He took pictures before to be able to explain the repairs from the estimate and then after he was hired took pictures during the repairs to show us the difference. He and his dad we're a great team and arrived promptly, we're professional, and very courteous. He even did what was called a tune-up and took the time to replace tile that was needed throughout the roof and clean out our rain gutters. We had MANY other projects going at the same time, and they were so good about working with other contractors. They also were great about cleaning up after themselves. They did an amazing job and we are extremely happy with the outcome. The job was complete within a couple weeks. Highly recommend this company for your roofing needs."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The short answer is, yes, cedar shakes do last longer than asphalt shingles. But the long answer is, it depends on maintenance. Asphalt shingles last about 20 years, while cedar shingles typically last about 30 years with proper maintenance. If they are very well maintained and installed in an area with a mild, drier climate, they can last up to 50 years.

A roof's ability to handle snow depends on its strength and the snow's weight, as wet snow is much heavier than dry, fluffy snow. While designs in snowy regions often allow for 35 to 50 pounds per square foot, a general guideline is that a typical roof can withstand about four feet of fresh snow, two feet of packed snow, or just one inch of ice. Factors like the roof's age, slope, and support structure also affect its capacity; newer, sloped roofs generally hold more weight than older, flat ones. Ice and ice dams add significant, dangerous weight. Because capacity varies, it is best to contact a professional roofing contractor or the original builder to determine the maximum snow load for your specific home.

No, cool roofs are not suitable for all climates. Cool roofs are very good at reflecting solar heat, so they’re suitable for homes in warm or hot climates. However, they’re not good at retaining heat, so they’re not suitable for homes in cold climates.

If you need to replace the roof over your attached garage, a roofing contractor can perform what is called a partial roof replacement that only affects garage roofing. However, it's important to keep in mind that only replacing a portion of your roof creates a situation where your roofing has two different lifespans. You will also miss out on the opportunity for a full roof warranty. In some cases, having two different roofs on your home could increase risks for leaks. When replacing the roof on a detached garage, homeowners have the option to make the project bigger by upgrading their home roof alongside their garage roof. However, this isn't necessary if your home has a newer, properly functioning roof. It is better to try to match the new garage roof to your home's existing roof instead.

Yes, a roof blister can cause a leak if it gets to the point where it pops. Prior to popping, a roof blister is just an aesthetic issue, but once it pops, you’re left with a small hole in the shingle. Water from rain and snow can easily get inside this hole and interact with your underlayment, roof decking, and the building material below.
