"I called and spoke with Angelo.  He gave me an estimated range of how much it would cost, and told me that he could have someone at my house within an hour or two.  A plumber showed up in one hour, unclogged the drain, cleaned up, and charged me within the quoted range.  The service was very good, and the price was very fair.  I would definitely use them again.

"A first time apartment owner and landlord, I needed major plumbing services within the first 6 months of ownership. The first time was a series of gas leaks which were quickly repaired by Western Rooter. The second time was the significant work of adding 2 gas meters and the requisite task of re-routing/adding gas piping. I simply cannot recommend Daniel Westereng and Western Rooter enough. Although the owner John came out to assist in the final bid, Daniel and I worked consistently with SoCal Gas to coordinate the improvements. Daniel was quick to return texts, calls, e-mails and worked diligently with all the parties to get the job done. If you need a plumber, save time and call Western Rooter. Tell them to send Daniel Westereng and he will do a fantastic job!"

"I’ll make a short and sweet they arrived on time completed the work very quickly, nice gentlemen. I would definitely hire them again. When friends asked me if I know a good plumber company I definitely will refer them to this one.. They’re very straightforward with the pricing and how much it would cost. They found a bigger issue when they got here and still gave me a great price."

"This was a difficult project, owing to the no-cripple-wall construction of my house and the ridiculously tight crawl space - less than a foot in critical spots - plus the maze of beams and ducts. I called six or seven plumbers to come out and bid the work and two of them ran screaming (well, not really, they just told me they needed to work up an estimate 'back at the office' and never called back). One guy swore I'd have to rip out a wall AND the floor to get to the pipe. Mr. Rooter didn't propose anything so dramatic. They just said they'd excavate as needed to make room to move around. So that's what they did. They billed it as a two-day job. They showed up on time, and the work was wrapped up by the third hour of the second day. Because that, I was concerned this job had been overbilled. Their bid had been astronomical, but it was still lower than everyone's except the guy with the lapsed bond. Mr. Rooter had been willing to negotiate and I knocked about $650 off their initial bid. They took another $200 off at the back end because of my concern with overbilling. They didn't have to do that since they had a signed contract in hand, but they were willing to take care of a customer. Thumbs up for that. The work looks solid, as far as this layman can tell. Everything drains as it should and none of the joints leak."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

Start by locating your main water shutoff near the street and the interior valves under sinks. For slow drains, use a plunger or drain snake instead of harsh chemicals that damage older pipes. Replace toilet flappers and fill valves yourself to prevent water waste in CA. If your water heater pressure valve drips, do not touch it. Call a licensed professional to handle the plumbing repair safely.

Helpful?

Address active leaks, sewer backups, and failing water heaters immediately to prevent structural damage and health hazards. A sudden drop in water pressure throughout your house requires urgent attention from a professional. You should monitor slow drains and dripping faucets, but schedule repairs promptly to avoid water waste. Inspect your underground plumbing before the rainy season in Norwalk, as wet clay soils stress older pipe joints.

Helpful?

Schedule plumbing updates if your home was built before 1975, as aging galvanized pipes restrict water flow and corrode. Unexplained increases in your water bill indicate hidden leaks that require immediate repair. Look for white, chalky scale buildup on your fixtures, which signals severe hard water mineral accumulation. Inspect your system after the rainy season in California, as shifting soils cause underground pipe damage.

Helpful?

Knowing your home's construction era is essential for plumbing projects in Norwalk. Homes built between the 1950s and 1970s feature galvanized steel and cast iron pipes that degrade over time. You should also check if your property uses a sewer or septic system. Finally, understand that local expansive clay soils shift with moisture, which puts underground pipes at risk of cracking. Review past permits to ensure previous work meets current standards.

Helpful?

Hiring a licensed contractor ensures your plumbing work meets mandatory seismic codes, including double-strapping water heaters. Proper installation must account for local hard water to prevent premature fixture degradation. Underground pipes require correct bedding material to withstand Norwalk's shifting clay soils. Finally, installing a pressure-reducing valve protects your entire system from high municipal water pressure, significantly extending the lifespan of your fixtures.
