"While they were up there cleaning the gutters they told me about the deterioration of all the sealants on the air vents, the chimney and exhaust fans on the roof. They took pictures and showed me and I had them redo all the sealants. I have a feeling that that was a smart way for them to get some more work (most people aren't aware of the damage the Ca sun can do). It was the owner of the company and his son that did all the work and they were clean, pleasant and professional. When the 1st rains came after the work was done I suddenly remembered a small leak we had had in our bathroom and IT WAS NO LONGER THERE!! "Heads Up to other members regarding Benjamin Franklin Plumbing's  coupon deal/offer of " $59 for $150 of Plumbing Services".   ---   
I called to inquire about this offer only to find out that there is a CATCH !   They tell you that there is an additional $59 service call fee.  Thus, you pay them $59 to travel to your site and then you pay another $59 for up to $150 of work after they arrive. The MINIMUM is therefore $118 no matter what you need done.  I felt this was somewhat misleading and should have been disclosed along with the coupon/ad and I decided I didn't want to do business with them.

REPLY TO CONTRACTOR'S MESSAGE RE: MISCOMMUNICATION:
There was absolutely NO misunderstanding on my part and I find it a questionable business practice on Benjamin Franklin Plumbing's part to imply via your response that the info provided me was somehow unclear.  I rec'd a voicemail message from "Juan" who stated clearly that "There is a $59 trip charge" and that this was to be a "separate fee".  I went back and listened to the voicemail he left me just now to get the exact wording for you.  I was somewhat in disbelief when I listened to the message originally so I called Juan back that same day to clarify and he reiterated that there was a "trip charge" that was just to come to the residence.  When I commented that that there was nothing in the fine print of your coupon that mentions that he said that is why he wanted to tell me before the contractor came out.  He noted my displeasure  on the phone and even told me that he could give me a $39 special reduced rate for the service call instead of $59 he initially quoted.  I declined.  In short,  he was probably being more honest than whomever responded with this whitewash to my original rating and comments; which, presents a sad state of business affairs for your firm.  :(  In retrospect, I was probably too generous with my "C" rating.
