"Where do I start! I am so happy I found a trustworthy and reliable contractor in Walnut Creek. Our house was basically a complete rebuild from a 1941 bungalow. We expanded the existing footprint by more than double and also added a detached garage. S&L was the absolute best! We bought the house in February but were not able to complete the drawings/permit process until a whopping 7 months later-- by which time a substantial amount of our resources were used up by paying rent + mortgage+ storage. The contractor we had planned to use could not fit us into his schedule so we were in a bind-- I found Jacob and contacted him immediately. Everyone he has on his team was courteous, responsible, and just very good at what they do. the craftsmanship that went into our house was much better than many of the new construction track homes we have seen. I only wish we found him sooner--since his business also does the architectural drawings-- we probably could have gotten into our house several months earlier. As I was very nervous about making changes to my home, the team at S&L Remodeling and Design made me feel comfortable and excited with the new renovations. The process was quicker than expected and I now have a beautiful kitchen and bathroom space!"

"First of all, these guys are rockstars. I never thought that I will say this about contractors - but they really impressed us with their professionalism and quality of work. We bought a new house with a big yard for our kids to run around (realizations during the pandemic), but it meant that we had to compromise on the quality of the house interior. It looked really old and didn't look renovated after it was build in the 60s. I started talking to general contractors to get it remodelled and was shocked by the timelines and prices being quoted. I found Ohad (owner of Quartz Construction) via yelp reviews and what struck me most was that everyone was commenting on his clear communication. We had done a remodel of our townhome in the past and it was not a great experience since the contractor kept changing timelines and prices in the middle of the job. My wife and I went to their office and had a detailed conversation with Ohad on what we were looking for. We had just a vague idea of what we wanted and this is where Ohad really helped us. He worked with us to create a plan on how we can make the home better and he even played the role of the designer to change the layout to create a new bedroom and bathroom. Post that, he drafted up everything and gave us a detailed quote on everything. 1. Remove 2 fireplaces and an indoor bbq pit within the home. 2. Change complete flooring. 3. Remove the popcorn cieling (and asbestos) and put new cieling. 4. Complete remodel of kitchen including structural changes. 5. Complete remodel of 2 bathrooms. 6. Construction of a new room and bathroom (with structural change). 7. Remodel the laundry room and guest washroom. 8. Recess lights across the house (close to 80 + recess lights across the house). 9. Painting interior and exterior. 10. New sub-panel for appliances. 11. All the required permits for these. Ohad a quoted a very reasonable price for all of this and he quoted 2 months to finish the project. I was a bit shocked, but he was very confident about it. We really liked the way he communicated and had an open discussion about everything, so we decided to go with him. Ohad had promised us that we will see progress in our house everyday and he kept that promise. His workers are honest, hard working folks and we were really impressed by everyone - especially Omar who was the worksite supervisor. The workers showed up everyday on time (8 am or earlier) and left late evening by 7 pm. They left the worksite so clean after every day's work that we used to wonder whether they were planning to come back the next day :-). Even our new neighbors were commenting about the punctuality and asked us for the contractors phone number for their remodeling (without seeing the interior, just based on the punctuality). We were expecting it to at least take 3-4 months and were prepared for the wait - but the entire project finished in 2 months a 1 week ( 1 week over the agreed timeline). And, the reason why it took 1 week more was since we added exterior painting and slanting roof+insulation for our new bedroom at the last moment. Since almost everything at our place was new, there were things to be fixed and reconfigured after we moved in. Anything we called and asked for was done the same day or the immediate next day. Everyone coming in and seeing the house cannot believe that it was done in 9 weeks (and within the budget) and a lot of my friends are now planning remodelling keeping Ohad and Quartz construction in mind. Ohad always says that he is "talking out loud" so that there is no confusion. It is his way of making sure that everyone is on the same page and there are no surprises. He is brutally honest and that is the best quality a contractor should have. This was the biggest remodeling we ever did and we were expecting a grind - but it was a breeze thanks to Ohad and his men. Highly recommended !!"

"It was a challenging time to undertake this project between COVID, engineering errors (not the builder), labor shortages, and the price of lumber. I would not say it was easy, but the end result is a very well built, comfortable, attractive, and energy efficient living space. I learned a lot from this project and provided feedback to the contractor about what I didn't know about the process when we began and what others would benefit from. One key item is a clear list of what the "finishing" materials are and a schedule indicating when these materials are needed. I recommend that anyone working on a building project of this intensity insist upon a detailed list as part of the contract and in advance of the work beginning. Since our work was done, this contractor has hired two additional people to focus on those types of needs. The people performing the labor were always polite, friendly and respectful of masking and social distancing. We felt comfortable with them around our home. One thing that could have been better is more orderly disposal of materials and separation of recyclable and non-recyclable items."
