"I had AC Dave preform three jobs for me over the past few years. (1) New ducts a few years ago. (2) Installed a mini-split heat pump in master bedroom this year. (3) Then a few months later I had him remove my old Central AC and replace it with an 18 SEER heat pump and new coil, all the while leaving my old furnace in place as a back up. Dave and his guys did a great job on all three projects, completing each one in a day. Highly recommended."

There is, however, another type of air conditioner called a swamp cooler that requires water to operate. If you have a swamp cooler, you may need to fill a reservoir with water and potentially ice. One of the fastest ways to unfreeze an AC unit is to turn off the unit and, if it’s warm outside, use the fan-only mode to help blow warmer air through the unit to speed up the defrosting process. While it may be tempting to use a hair dryer to defrost the air conditioner, that high heat can damage the coils.
