"We just bought a house, and needed to get some popcorn ceiling containing asbestos removed. However, we were on a tight timeline due to the 10 day waiting period. Larry took that into consideration, and scheduled work to begin as soon as the 10 day waiting period was over. His crew arrived on time, and were very professional. They made sure all affected areas were sealed off, and cleaned up throughly after work was done. Price was fair, and work was done just in time for our move into the new home."

"Workers were efficient, clean, and pleasant. They described their work and then did it. The following work was performed: 1.Remove registers , clean and sanitize. 2.Clean out duct with Rotobrush to remove loose dust, fluff, particles, etc. 3.Wipe down the inside walls of the vent area with warm water and disinfectant mix."

"Came out great, the kitchen is definitely more modernized now, looks so much better with the new cabinets, and removed that ugly center island to make it more functional, they added a slap next to the pantry area instead of the center kitchen area. Bathrooms got many updates including swapping the tiles out and creating a walking shower in the master, looks soooo much better
I am delighted with your services and the design that has developed. It is a perfect dream house. You have done an excellent job of incorporating the best features. Many thanks for all your help with the tremendous design.

"Matthew was very good at explaining the process of completing the work that was done, and routinely checked in on us throughout the process. The work was completed in a timely fashion and is good quality. Unfortunately, the painters took down our mezuza and lost it in the process of painting. The painters and management apologized and have otherwise been very accommodating and helpful. They also cleaned up their workspace and assisted us in removing some bulky items."

"Let me start by saying I am very picky on who works on my house. With that said my process is the following: I go on ALL review websites, call and set appointments on here for 3 business. From there I pick on professionalism. and of course price. I met with Attic guys, Attic Masters and finally Attic Five Stars. All came with their A game on the initial quote what set them all apart was Virginia and Marlon. Virginia is knowledgeable and walked me through the process of what company was all about. From there Marlon showed up on time for the appointment and walked me through the whole job and provided a great price, I was pleased but not yet closed from there Virginia called and stated she wanted my business and reassured me that i would be happy and the fact that no other company followed up was the closing factor for me. Virginia and Marlon great job on my attic and will be call you for insulation for the garage."

"Originally they were very good they just never come back and taken care of any of the other work, they were good at the very beginning, they were on top of every thing at the very beginning but after they did the initial work and they needed to come back an did touch ups they never come back and done anything more, I can't get them to come back and do anything more.

They are way over priced compare to what they should be and I didn't realize it at the time but when I found out afterwards it was too late."

"We would like to thank Steve and everyone else involved on our kitchens new look. Cabinet designer did an amazing job, incorporating them with the rest of the house. Electricians were very detail oriented, tight cables, safety pipes and very useful tips. Plumbers were also very efficient, and managed to satisfy my dads wishes in terms of path and material. Crew that did our tiles was very friendly, offered us designs, many possible options and some hints on color match etc. They were very friendly, polite, informative and above everything very professional. They showed up to work each day on time and sometimes even earlier. Leaving their job site left us every day with clean area, excess garbage was removed, everything tidy and sorted out in piles then removed. Our questions were approached seriously and I'm personally very happy with all of their answers, especially with Steve's, his tips were priceless. I believe the whole project was a huge success because we managed to establish excellent communication with Steve and his crew. Every step in the remodeling process went smoothly. From the first day, when they started with removal of overused equipment and interior to the final days of cabinet installation, painting and doing the final touches, Steve was there 100% of the time spent. He was right on top of each job that needed his attention.

We had a total kitchen remodeling ? every cabinet and counter top, electrical and plumbing changed, new floor, and one window removed and another window moved a bit with some wall adjustment. The complete job is very well done. They managed to fit into our budget quite easy, since I never heard a word about it. And everything is so gorgeous. The tile work on our floor is my favorite part beside cabinets. The finish on our cabinets is beautiful and detailed. Working with Steve and his crew was a fun and pleasant experience. We can tell that each person on the team is proud of the work they did. We really do recommend this company to every one we know who needs any job done to their home, either interior or exterior, they'll sort you out."

"I liked the quality of the material. I liked the contact person I spoke with on the phone. I liked their reliability in terms of scheduling and showing up when they said they would. The only complaint I had was that the installation was somewhat flawed. They did come back and fix it, but it was not perfect the first time. The overall experience is good. In the end, I am happy. I would use Stone Expo & Tile Corp. again."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

Abatement focuses on immediate hazard control while remediation encompasses a comprehensive cleanup and long-term safety strategy. Abatement refers specifically to reducing or eliminating the immediate hazard by removing or encapsulating it. It’s a targeted approach aimed solely at controlling asbestos risks. Remediation is a broader term that involves the entire process of addressing contamination to restore a safe environment. Remediation can include abatement, decontamination, air quality testing, and post-cleanup monitoring.

Typically, homeowners insurance does not cover asbestos removal or abatement. Most policies exclude coverage for pollutants, contaminants, and hazardous materials, which includes asbestos. Because asbestos is often considered a pre-existing condition in older homes, its removal is usually viewed as a maintenance expense rather than an insurable loss. However, there is a key exception: if asbestos-containing materials are discovered or disturbed due to a covered event, such as a fire or storm, your policy may cover the abatement as part of the necessary repairs. For example, if a storm damages your roof and an insurance adjuster discovers asbestos while inspecting the damage, the policy might pay for the removal cost. If removal is not covered and is outside your budget, you might consider encapsulating the asbestos. The viability of this option depends on the condition of the contaminated materials. It is recommended to speak with an asbestos abatement specialist to understand your options.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hazardous waste is generally classified into four main categories:

1. Characteristic Wastes: These exhibit at least one of four hazardous traits: ignitability (flammable, like gasoline), corrosivity (can rust or decompose materials, like car batteries), reactivity (unstable and can explode, like aerosol cans), or toxicity (harmful when ingested, like lead-based paint).

2. Listed Wastes: These are specific wastes from manufacturing and industrial processes that the EPA has officially designated as hazardous. They include byproducts from processes that use solvents, pesticides, and other chemicals.

3. Universal Wastes: These are commonly generated hazardous items that are subject to streamlined regulations. Examples include batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment (e.g., bulbs), and some lamps.

4. Mixed Wastes: This category includes waste that contains both hazardous and radioactive components, making it subject to regulation by both the EPA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

If you are trying to sell a home with asbestos siding, most jurisdictions force you to disclose this in official documentation about the home. Some potential buyers may not want to purchase a home with asbestos siding, which could negatively affect their health if the siding becomes disturbed. However, as long as the siding is in good condition, some buyers may not see it as a disadvantage. You could take on the cost to replace asbestos siding if you have concerns over this material affecting your home’s resale value.

Performing abatement for asbestos means the contractor removes or encapsulates the asbestos to protect your family’s health. The term abatement refers to the steps required to keep asbestos fibers from moving into the air. Understanding what asbestos abatement is can help you discuss the case with your contractors by understanding the jargon they use.
