"No hesitation in recommending this business-great service, very helpful and professional. This was an emergency install during the time the weather was over 104. So grateful to this business for helping me out and not taking advantage of me! Highly recommend. You do not find service providers like this any more. I like doing business with kind people and will recommend as a result."

"Due to some renovation and repair work, there were large areas of ceiling over the kitchen and master bath where the insulation had been removed. The rest of the house had old cellulose insulation that had been settling for several years. All in all, in the winter cold the lack of insulation was noticeable. RJL Installation ran a special with a discount on Angie's List to pay $149 for $500 worth of installed attic insulation.  I bought the special and was contacted by RJL. I was really only wanting the areas where insulation was missing to be covered, but it turned out that the cost was not much greater to get the entire attic covered. I was somewhat taken aback by the total price ($1,149.50 on top of the original $149.00), but decided that the insulation was needed in any case, so that was why I gave the C rating for price. I felt a bit trapped because I had already paid for the discounting and didn't know how to get that money back if I had decided that I didn't want to pay as much as the final quoted price.
The installer thought that there should be some sort of access port or window or something to get into the attic from outside the house, and seemed surprised that the house was built with only a hallway ceiling opening for attic access. Once we established that that was, indeed, the only way to get up there, the installer proceeded to bring a large hose through the front door and the hallway and into the attic. When he was in place, his assistant started feeding compressed bales of fiberglass-like insulation through a machine that broke up the compressed insulation and "fluffed" it and blew it through the large hose to be blown in place. When the installation work was completed, I was invited to climb the ladder to take a look at the coverage, using a large flashlight as my light source. From the ladder, the insulation looked to be level across as much of the attic as I could see (almost all the attic, in truth), and appeared to be deep enough to be effective. When they were finished with the installation, the installer and his assistant borrowed a broom and managed to sweep up almost all of any insulation that had found its way to where it was not wanted.
All in all, an acceptable job. I thought about giving an overall rating of B, but except for the price, the other categories rated an A.

Nest Installation questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Modesto should consider proximity to farmland, which can increase exposure to agricultural pests and seasonal mosquito surges. Older homes may have more hidden entry points for rodents and insects, while new developments can temporarily drive pests indoors. Irrigation runoff and nearby water sources also impact pest activity, making it important to address drainage and monitor for termite infestations after heavy watering.

Helpful?

Modesto offers a range of pest control contractors, including full-service providers, termite specialists, and rodent prevention experts. Some focus on eco-friendly or organic solutions tailored to local pest issues, like drywood termites or field mice common near agricultural zones. When selecting a contractor, ensure they have experience with pest control in Modesto and hold proper state certification for the specific services you need.

Helpful?

In Modesto, the hot, dry summers and mild winters keep pests like ants, termites, and rodents active nearly all year. Extended warmth allows termites to swarm longer and rodents to seek shelter indoors during droughts. Because pest control in Modesto is a year-round need, homeowners should schedule regular inspections and focus on moisture management and rodent prevention, especially during peak heat.

Helpful?

For pest control in Modesto, use boric acid baits and silica gel dusts, which withstand the area’s heat and dryness. Diatomaceous earth is effective for ant and cockroach control, while tamper-resistant rodent stations help with rodent prevention. Termite treatment often involves borate-treated wood and soil barriers, especially in neighborhoods near irrigation canals where subterranean termites are common. Local stores typically stock these supplies.

Helpful?

Combining pest control in Modesto with home upgrades is efficient and effective. When updating landscaping, choose drought-tolerant, pest-resistant plants and install gravel or stone borders to deter insects. If you’re sealing windows or doors, add weatherstripping and caulk gaps to block entry points. During remodeling, consider termite treatment for structural wood. Coordinating these steps streamlines maintenance and supports long-term pest prevention.
