"Others wanted weeks to come out to just diagnose the problem. I talked to Jon on a Friday and he came out on Monday. He diagnosed the problem to be the inverter which was under warranty. Jon handled all the warranty stuff and replaced it the next day it arrived. We added some panels to optimize my inverter capacity. So it is now fixed and producing more power than before. I highly recommend Sun Kiss Solar."

"I recently chose Solar Sesame for my solar panel installation, and Iâ m thrilled with my decision! After consulting with three other companies, it was clear that Solar Sesame offered the best combination of professionalism and expertise. Preslav was my salesman, and he was outstanding. His knowledge of solar energy and the installation process was impressive, and he took the time to address all my questions thoroughly. I appreciated his transparency and clear communication, which made the decision-making process much easier. Ultimately, I felt confident signing with Solar Sesame, knowing I was in good hands. "Working with the ILUM Solar team was a true pleasure. We started our project on our own and quickly realized we needed some help. I contacted ILUM Solar and Robert Dean took over the planning, permitting and installation process. We have had our ground mount 60 panel solar system for 3 years with no problems. Highly recommend."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

Solar water heating systems are not one-size-fits-all. You'll likely work with a team of experts to get the job done—including solar panel installers, plumbers, and water heater installers. A specialist will help you decide if a passive or active system is best for your local weather, home layout, roof stability, and your budget.

Solar panels should get at least four to six hours of direct sunlight daily. It’s even better if sunlight reaches panels between the peak hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. This is enough to power a home, depending on your solar system’s size and energy needs. Remember that panels will generate some power under cloudy skies or in the shade, and many systems compensate for lower sun exposure by drawing energy from the grid or battery storage.

No, you cannot turn on a new solar system before inspection. The inspector checks that the system is correctly connected to the grid and that safety components and features are in place. This process prevents problems on the electrical grid and offers protection against fire in your home.

Your local utility company may also require inspection documentation before you can connect to the grid. An inspection can ensure solar power efficiency and determine how you might increase it.

The average homeowner needs around 22 solar panels, but the exact number depends on your monthly energy consumption. Your solar professional should size your array to offset your consumption, meaning you’ll need fewer panels if you use below-average amounts of electricity, or more than 22 if you use above-average amounts of electricity. The number of panels also depends on the output of each panel. The average is around 400 watts, but you might need more panels if you install less capable equipment. Since there are so many variables, you should have a professional size your system.

There are a few qualifying questions you should ask a local solar panel company before hiring them:

  • Will you handle permits for the installation?

  • Does your total price include the equipment and labor?

  • How long do you expect the installation process to take?

  • What kind of workmanship warranty do you include with your installations?

  • Who should I contact if I have a problem with my system after installation?

  • Do you install the panels or outsource the work to third parties?

  • Will you file for solar incentives for me?
