"Ivan Perez and his team with First Class Fencing is off the charts for every aspect of his service. Kind , courteous, professional and very organized. They installed 290 lft or 6’ tall redwood fence with 3 perfectly installed gates. In 2 days. My neighbors and I could not be happier with our decision to use First Class Fencing to do our project!!! Highly recommend Ivan and his team!!!"

"I hired Fence Doctor to repair a few sections of my fence that was damaged during the winter storm. Got a few estimate, one was 30% lower than Fence Dr, but ultimately decided to go with Herb since he seems to know fences really well, and was able to explain things. Pros: - He and his crew are excellent at doing their work, fast and efficient and cleaned up after themselves - Really like the newly installed fence sections Cons: - He pushed out the installation date 3 times due to various reasons, and told me the day before he needed to change the date - His initial quotes didn't match what he told me verbally, resulting in delays to begin the work. Overall, I'm satisfied with the work Herb and his crew from Fence Dr did, and will recommend his service."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Most Modesto homes are well-suited for fencing projects, especially if your lot is level and not prone to flooding. If you live near irrigation canals or on a corner lot, check for setback or height restrictions. Homes in newer developments may have HOA rules about privacy fences. Stable clay soil in Modesto generally supports various fence types, making it easy to find a style that fits your needs.

Helpful?

In Modesto, consider the impact of strong valley winds, summer heat, and wildfire risk if you’re near open land. If your property borders farmland, a solid privacy fence can help reduce dust and chemical drift. Pay attention to city setback rules and neighborhood security needs. Scheduling your fence installation outside of peak spring and summer seasons can help avoid delays and ensure better contractor availability.

Helpful?

Combining fencing with yard upgrades like landscaping, irrigation improvements, or patio installation in Modesto can streamline your project. Coordinating these tasks allows contractors to share equipment and labor, often reducing overall disruption. Planning multiple outdoor improvements together ensures your new fence complements your yard’s layout and helps you address issues like drainage or privacy more efficiently. This approach is especially useful in Modesto’s climate.

Helpful?

In Modesto, hidden costs during fence installation often include permit fees for fences over six feet, property surveys if boundaries are unclear, and possible fees for HOA approvals in certain neighborhoods. You may also encounter expenses for relocating irrigation lines, addressing underground utilities, or managing clay-heavy soil and tree roots. Planning for weather-related delays during the rainy season can help you avoid timeline surprises.

Helpful?

In Modesto, homeowners sometimes overlook verifying exact property lines, leading to disputes or costly fence relocation. Ignoring local fence height restrictions or HOA guidelines is another common pitfall. Choosing materials like untreated wood, which can warp in Modesto’s summer heat, is a frequent error. It’s also wise to check for underground irrigation before digging and to hire fence installation pros familiar with local soil conditions.
