"Talk about quick and good service. I spoke with Jason less than 16 hours ago, and he and his team have already come and completed the job (small hole in stucco). I mismatched the paint, but they had some paint that matched my wall from a previous job at a different home, which they were kind enough to use."

"I highly recommend Golden 1 Lath & Plaster for any stucco repair. They arrived on time, were extremely polite and answered all my questions, and then proceeded to prepare the area to be fixed. Andres was like an artist working on the repair. When finished we could not tell where the damage was. Excellent repair, excellent cleanup and done at a very reasonable cost. I would use them again if I have the need."

"We were very happy with JV Lacht. They were incredibly professional and helpful. They made time quickly to look at our house, and helped us understand that what we thought was a stucco issue actually wasn't one. We really appreciated that honesty, and for that plus their excellent communication, we'd highly recommend working with JV Lacht."

"We hired Edgar with Stucco Specialties to repair stucco around a patio door and install architectural foam around the area. From the moment Edgar came to our home for the estimate he was professional, prompt and answered all of our questions. His pricing is very reasonable. He completed the work originally quoted and offered to address some other stucco areas of concern. His work is impeccable, he maintained a clean work area and cleaned after completing all of the repairs. Edgar is a true craftsman, we would highly recommend his services."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

To maintain stucco, inspect it annually for cracks and clean the surface with a mild detergent. Seal any cracks promptly to prevent water infiltration, and reseal or repaint as needed to preserve its appearance.

A standard drill will work just fine if you’re drilling small holes, and only a few of them. But anything with a diameter larger than 3/8 inch is best done with a hammer drill, since it is stronger, faster, and also makes your drill bits last longer. While you don’t absolutely need a hammer drill for stucco, it is a worthy investment if you think you might drill more holes down the road.

German schmear is a durable brick masonry coating. It should last at least a decade or two without flaking or fading, even with minimal maintenance. This makes it an economical option compared to the cost of painting your house exterior, which usually needs to be repainted every five to 10 years to keep it looking its best—thus costing more over the same time period.

It’s not advisable to use CLR on stucco. CLR is a powerful acidic cleaner designed for removing tough mineral stains. Stucco is a porous material commonly made of cement, lime, and sand. The acidic nature of CLR can potentially damage or etch the stucco surface, leading to discoloration or deterioration.

It is best to use cleaning solutions specifically formulated for stucco or mild household cleaners mixed with water to clean stucco siding. Always test any cleaning product in a small, inconspicuous area before applying it to the entire stucco surface.

Stucco will dry in two to three days, but you should wait one to two months to allow it to cure fully before you paint it. The curing process is slow, but leaving the material exposed to air and natural moisture will help it reach its maximum strength. If you live in a hot, arid climate, wait a month before painting. Wait two months before painting if you live in a more moderate or wet climate.
