"Emerson put in a gas line for me. He was on time, fairly priced, knew what he was doing, followed through on the project and permits, and always called me back. I would use him again."

"JPC came in and took their time to thoroughly inspect our kitchen so that they can give us options on how we can install a new gas line as we were switching from an electric to a gas range. Their pricing is very fair, they are friendly and courteous. When they found out that we forgot to purchase a flexible gas hose, they went above and beyond and went out to buy one. I will definitely use them again for any future plumbing jobs."

"Jared showed up and wasted no time in doing two things at once (draining the hot water heater and repairing a small fireplace gas leak). He educated me a little on what he was doing which is always helpful. He was also careful to keep his booties on, so as not to ruin the shiny wood floors. Highly recommend based on this experience."

"Everything went ok as far as I could tell, but yesterday a plumber told me the gas line was not large enough and that is why the water heater is not working properly."

"He contacted me right away and offered to come to do a free estimate. Based on our conversation he gave me estimates based on two scenarios. We scheduled a time for him to come out and he arrived, attempted to resolve the non functioning garbage disposal but eventually replaced it. He went to shop for the replacement and sent me pictures and costs and provided advice to aid in my selection. The replacement went well and so far no problems."

Customers say: Quick response

"Johnny rocks! He repiped my entire 82 year old house in Richmond. He had a crew of 4 plumbers on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. Finished this massive job in 2 days! He is so knowledgeable, courteous, honest and completely trustworthy. I am thrilled with my new beautiful copper pipes. And the water pressure I now have! Who knew?!!!"

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

No. Placing a built-in grill against the house is discouraged due to safety concerns. Building codes and regulations often require a minimum distance (typically 10 feet or more) between a gas grill and any combustible structure, including a house. Placing a grill too close poses a fire hazard and risks damage to the siding or structure, potentially leading to carbon monoxide buildup. It's essential to consult local building codes, follow manufacturer guidelines, and prioritize safety by positioning the grill at a safe distance, ideally in a well-ventilated outdoor kitchen or designated grill area.

On average, a gas grill can last from five to 15 years. The exact lifespan depends on several factors, including the brand and quality of the grill, frequency of use, and whether the gas line is buried or above ground. With proper maintenance and care, such as regular deep cleanings to remove food, grease, and carbon deposits, a grill's life can be extended. Protecting the grill from the elements with a cover can also prevent rust and reduce the need for repairs. Most grill manufacturers also offer extended warranties, which vary in coverage and terms.

Local codes often mandate specific fittings, permits, and vent considerations for permitted function and safety, which are enforced by professionals.

While it’s possible to repair minor grill issues like replacing a burner, more serious issues are clear indicators that you need to replace the entire unit. A few signs that your gas grill may be at the end of its life span and it’s time to consider replacing it include:

  • Rusty or cracked firebox

  • Weak, yellow, or uneven flames

  • Flaking, cracking grates

  • Leaking or cracked propane hoses

  • Failing igniter

  • Heavy buildup of grease

The cost of a gas grill burner ranges from $10 to $100 or more, depending on the brand. If you’re replacing one burner, consider replacing all the burners simultaneously. Although it will cost more upfront, it will save you the hassle of replacing a burner every few months, and your grill will cook more evenly and efficiently.
