"Christian arrived on time, installed three ceiling fans, three pendant lights and a chandelier. He was polite, personable, attentive to detail and kept everything neat and tidy while he was working. I would highly recommend him and would hire him again in a heartbeat. His pricing was fair and he was able to squeeze me into the schedule within the timeframe I needed."

"Very difficult job but went smoothly.  Time consuming due to terrain.  Went above and beyond  with moving the existing lights to an unlit portion of driveway.  Used again with an Angie's special for small work on rear lights installed at new construction."

"Electrician arrived on time and performed services efficiently and all fixtures worked after completion of work. Work was accomplished on a time basis rather than per fixture. Major issue with Angie's List on this work: I have used Swihart before this company was not listed on the list of electricians provided even though the company is located closer to my residence than any of the other companies listed. Swihart pays a considerable amount of $ to be on Angies List and the owner was mystified why he was not listed. The company does excellent work and as a small local company, it is one that I wish to support when possible."

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

To achieve the optimal lighting output from your under-cabinet lights, position the LED tape towards the front of the cabinet with the LEDs facing downward. For effective illumination of the work surface and backsplash, place the tape light approximately one to two inches behind the cabinet's front edge. This mounting configuration is especially suitable for dull or matte surfaces.

An exterior lighting professional will normally be able to complete hardwired lighting installation in a day or two, depending on the size of the project, and they can install battery-powered or solar-powered lights in just a few hours. DIYing the project will often take a bit longer, but you can typically install battery- or solar-powered exterior lighting in a single weekend.

Motion-sensor lights use one watt while on standby and five watts while turned on. They’re usually on for one hour over a 24-hour period, bringing the total wattage to about 28 watts per day. LED lights use around 6.5 to 8 watts while on. If you leave an LED light on all night, with night ranging from 10 to 14 hours, you’re looking at using 65 to 112 watts a night. You can minimally cut your wattage in half by switching to a motion-sensor light.

Some outdoor lighting fixtures are easy to install, like solar pathway lights that don’t need connecting to your electrical system. However, other types of outdoor lighting can be challenging to install, especially if it’s part of a larger electrical system. It’s best to work with a trained electrician for high-voltage outdoor lighting. You might also want to work with a landscaper for installing lighting in high or hard-to-reach areas.

The average cost to install a light fixture is $600, with a typical range of $200 to $1,100. The total cost depends on several factors, including the type and number of fixtures, wiring requirements, and your location. Additional costs may apply for removing old fixtures or for any necessary electrical or drywall work. Replacing an existing light fixture is generally less expensive than installing a new one because the wiring is already in place.
