"Went well getting bid and setting up start date. Renters were told they would have to stay off of driveway for 24 hours. After that renter drove over one particularly deep pocket and it sunk and was still wet. It never really dried. Also cracks through berm was not filled. We contacted and sent pictures to Nick and he had these issues resolved. Renters stayed off the repaired pocket for 48 hours and it's fine now.

"We were very impressed with the paver work the Accurate Grading team did for our driveway and sidewalk to our house. Cameron did a thorough walk-through with us and provided a very reasonable quote, compared with others. They got our project going within a week, and showed up on time daily. The crew paid great attention to detail and kept us up to date and confirmed decisions on design along the way. They did an excellent job grading and prepping the driveway after finding several large boulders. Can't recommend enough - great value and enjoyable experience!"

"I cannot say enough about Noe and his employees. His quote was very competitive. He replaced part of my driveway for me, as part of it was crumbling due to a neighbors tree. I am so pleased with the finished product, and recommend them in a heartbeat. Thank you for going above and beyond. I am so pleased. If anyone needs this type of work done, please call Noe. You will not be disappointed."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Recycled asphalt is a durable choice for a driveway, but doesn’t have the same appearance and low maintenance as standard asphalt. For long driveways in rural communities, recycled asphalt can make a great choice. Recycled asphalt is 20% to 30% percent less expensive than standard asphalt and is better for the environment.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

Since it has a smoother surface using a mixture of finer rock and sand, 41A tends to be the best asphalt grade for a driveway, especially for residential driveways. Other options are available, but more homeowners choose 41A for a smoother asphalt driveway. Talk with your asphalt driveway professional for recommendations of the best grade for your specific driveway.

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

Common alternatives to a gravel driveway include concrete, asphalt, brick, stone pavers, and permeable pavers. Concrete and asphalt are generally the most affordable options. However, concrete can be prone to cracking in cold climates, while asphalt may soften in areas with high heat and direct sun exposure. For enhanced curb appeal, brick, stone, and permeable pavers are popular choices, though their installation can be more expensive due to intricate designs. Stone pavers offer a natural look and are sometimes installed with gravel around them. Both permeable pavers and brick driveways provide excellent drainage, which helps prevent flooding and reduce water runoff.
