"I needed 1 large, dead, Elm tree and 2 dead Arizona Cypress removed. They showed up exactly when they said they would. They made short work of all the trees and they cleaned up so well it was like they were never there. The workers were awesome. Jim Lewandowski provided excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend them oh, and I will definitely use them again."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Came and discussed the 3 trees I needed cleaned up. Discussed how I wanted the tops not to much but the sides away from the neighbors roof and from my roof giving more light for solar panels. Did a great job. Cleaned up the yards afterwards. They had a job to do, they got it done and left. No messing around. Thank you Tree Rite."

"Dwayne and his crew did an awesome job in removing a very large pine tree that was growing next to my house. It was very tricky on removing the tree with power lines in the way but they cleared all and did a great job of cleaning up. I thank them for an awesome job! I would and will recommend them for all tree services! Thank you!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. Young pie, sour, and tart cherry trees that are over 30 inches tall in the fall or winter before the tree blooms can benefit from heading cuts.

You can remove a small tree from your yard if there’s space for the tree to fall, you have the right tools and safety equipment, and you follow a clear plan of action. You’ll just want to follow the steps above carefully, and ideally, you will have experience doing similar tasks. If you have any doubts that you can do this project safely, though, you should hire a pro.

Unfortunately, if you cut the top off a palm tree, it will die. Instead of budding or branching out, the top begins to slowly rot. That's why having a professional tree trimming at least twice a year is a good idea. If you don’t have experience with trimming your palm tree, you might accidentally cut the top off, leaving a dead and rotting tree in your wake.

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

The best way to protect tree roots is to avoid the roots entirely by excavating outside the root radius of the tree. For nearby projects, it’s a good idea to construct a temporary retaining wall. But that’s not always possible, depending on the project and the root system. In these cases, consider using alternative equipment like an auger to tunnel under the ground.

Remember, tree roots can damage nearby cement foundations as they grow. If a tree is close enough to interfere with large excavations, it may be better to remove the tree than risk future problems.
