"Jason responded to my early morning request quickly and showed up at my house the same morning. He recognized the problem with our water heater, got it drained, disconnected, and removed before he had to leave for another scheduled appointment. He also recommended someone to look at the damaged pedestal. After the repairs to the pedestal, Jason was back promptly the next morning when he said he would arrive to install the new water heater. He was done quickly, cleaned up everything, and even let my wife know that there would most likely be air in the pipes that would cause sputtering and noise when each faucet was turned on. Consummate professional and highly recommended."

French Drains questions, answered by experts

DIY is not recommended due to safety risks and specialized equipment requirements. Hire professionals for effective clearing.

While some chemical drain cleaners with hydrochloric acid can dissolve hair, this method is not recommended as it can also destroy your plumbing pipes. A common DIY alternative is using baking soda and vinegar, which can help break down the clog but will not actually dissolve the hair. The best and safest method for clearing a hair clog is to remove it manually. You can use a drain snake, a straightened wire hanger with pliers to fish out the clog, or have a plumber use a professional auger for more severe blockages.

It is safe to flush small amounts of bleach down the toilet. Don’t flush more than ¼ cup of bleach. Instead, consider diluting it and pouring it down the sink drain.

Keep your egress window from flooding by ensuring that the drainage system in the window well is clear and in good working condition. Inspect the window well every few months to remove any blockages and test the drainage system. It’s better to discover potential problems before your window well fills with water during heavy rain.

Snaking a drain can take as little as a few minutes for small, simple clogs, up to two hours or more for tough clogs located further down the drain line. For tougher clogs, a professional drain cleaner can likely get the job done much more quickly because they have the necessary tools and expertise. However, your drain cleaning pro might not be able to give you a firm time estimate until inspecting the clog and its surrounding plumbing.
