"I initially had Sean come to give an estimate on painting the interior.  I realized quickly he was a General Contractor and painting is only a portion of the services/experience he provides.  He also has an eye for design - he kept making the same comments/observations the interior designer we used had made.  Painting the interior of the house quickly became remodeling the bar, ripping out an ornamental bump-out to open the family room space, adding accent lighting, moving electrical to better fit today's wall-mounted TV/entertainment system and a beautifull remodel of our small downstairs bathroom. 
He offered design tips and recommendations for color/hardware/material choices all the while listening to what we wanted.  His vendors worked out great for granite, tile and glass and his subcontractors were all polite, professional and on time.  We have teen/preteen girls at home and as the daughter of a construction family I have to say - my father would have approved of the character of every subcontractor we had enter the house.  Very important when you trust your home to others. 
The costs never exceeded what he told us they would be - we were adequately prepared for the material costs which for stone and glass have increased but his vendors did a fantastic job.  He was present at the showroom for bathroom tile selection and had an owner meet me for selection of the granite at that showroom.
I also had an ornamental brass piece I wanted affixed to a piece of unfinished wood (he provided) to put in the house to display - we collaborated and it turned out great.
Our master bath will need a complete overhaul in a few years - I hope Sean is still in the area as we will definitely be calling him back."

"I was recommended to Fine Point Painting by my parents. In the past my parents had bad luck with contractors who gave meaning to the term, Jack of All Trades Master at None. I grew up doubting contractors but Bill and his crew were fantastic. When he came out to do the bid he answered all of my questions and was thorough on explaining to me the reasons. When I had additional questions/concerns he was quick to reply via email.
The house we purchased to put it nicely, was in bad shape. Previously, it was a rental which I'm sure you can imagine the state
it was in. It also had termite damage in which Bill advised me to have the paint job done after the fumigation tenting. Apparently,
fumigation causes fresh paint to peel!!! Thank goodness we painted after the tenting.
We had the whole works done on the interior. The acoustic popcorn on the ceiling was removed, sanded, textured, primed, and
painted throughout the house. Also, the trim, doors and cabinets had oil based paint which needed to be sanded and primed in order for the latex paint to stick. The walls were sanded as well to remove embedded hair follicles and pebbles that were painted in the walls from the previous painter. Most of the interior of the house and entire garage smelled of animal urine and they pressure washed the garage with a cleaning solution to eliminate the smell. There were numerous cracks on the walls and ceilings which they filled. There were also 8 giant holes in the walls that they patched. They did an amazing job on the patchwork since you can't tell they were there!!! His crew was professional, courteous and they came on time. Also, they cleaned up after themselves very well. And this is coming from someone who is borderline OCD.
There were no hidden fees or added fees tacked on at the end. What made it easier for us was a payment plan which was broken down into 3 payment installations. This meant we paid them after each chunk of work was completed. I have heard stories where people have paid contractors upfront and the contractors run away with money or they don't finish the project.
If Angie's List had +'s and -'s I would give them A+'s. There are no words to express how pleased we are with Fine Point Painting. Our house looks amazing, the garage has no smell and I will hire them again for future projects.

"Creating an additional picture window in the living room was a big deal as far as permits go, so the architectural progress was slow. Once actual construction began, including scaffolding to reach the height of the second floor living room, the process was swift and simple and the result was completely satisfactory. This part was done on the original Angie's coupon.
A few months later I asked them back to do the bathrooms. The tile job in the master bath is perfect and gorgeous, completely belies the Home Depot open stock tile I wanted to use for economy. He asserts that he used the best guy in the Bay to do the work, and I certainly believe him.
Work on the secondary bathroom I wanted to keep simple and economical, so the one-piece tub and shower were not replaced, but the newer real stone floor adds a real touch of class, plus floor heater and a souped up overhead heater with exhaust fan and overhead light, as well as the paint color I chose, adds the real warmth which that room certainly needed.
He is really good with making suggestions which keep costs down, and at the same time does not quibble with choices I make on my own (paint color, for instance). We worked well together.
