"Ace was the lowest price and used the best insulation material which was fiberglass not cellulose. They showed up when expected and did a good job, we know, my husband was a building inspector before he retired."

"They came out to look and suggested that this was not an insulation problem, but a problem with the duct work for the A/C. They had recommended one of their A/C subcontractors who did an excellent job."

"Tony and Green Apple were awesome. He gave a quote and stuck with it, even when the job turned out to be more extensive than he anticipated, showed up 15 minutes early (after giving me a courtesy phone call to let me know he was on his way), and worked very hard for three hours to clear at least 30 years of dust and debris out of the duct work. He had a sense of humor, respected the property, left the house clean and ducts spotless. Don’t hesitate to use Green Apple!"

"The project was to insulate the home (1800 sq. ft) --blown in R38 for the attic and 6 inch BATTS (R-19) for the basement/subfloor to protect our newly installed hardwood floors and to provide insulation in general. Every aspect of the process from initial consult call to bidding to project completion was superb. Craig provided excellent customer service. He understood our objective was to get the most value for our investment. He showed up on time and performed the project professionally and seamlessly. I highly recommend this contractor for insulation services."

"Last week I had Landmark energy upgrades, do energy efficiency work at my home. The work included sealing all my duct-work in the attic as well as sealing all the spots between the living space below and blowing in additional insulation in order to bring me up to today's standards. I also had them replace all the duct work in my crawlspace and seal it as well as when they came for their initial inspection they found that my duct-work was riddled with holes and was completely uninsulated as well as being unsealed. I initially contacted Landmark after receiving notification that they were offering assorted rebates for home owners to incentivize them to do upgrades to there homes.
I was super pleased with these guys, a total of two crews worked on our home and they were both quick, professional, and explained what they would be doing in detail when they first arrived. They also did a good job cleaning up after themselves. Immediately I noticed a difference in my home after the work was finished. The HVAC system weren?t running nearly as much and the temperature in the home was absolutely more consistent.  Landmark Energy Upgrades promptly handled all the paperwork required in order for me to receive my rebates making this part of the process extremely easy. I fully recommend these guys!

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Natural fiber batts and spray foam insulation both work great for soundproofing. Newer materials, such as hemp batts, are more expensive but more effective for insulation and sound blocking. They are also more sustainable. There is also a professional system called Blow-In Blanket Insulation (BIBS) that is soundproof and moisture-resistant. However, BIBS must be installed professionally and can be a costly investment.

The primary purpose of insulation is to maintain comfortable temperatures in a home, whether that’s cool air when it’s hot out, or warm air in winter, but that’s not all it can do. All options will also minimize heating and cooling needs, lowering both your carbon footprint and energy bills in turn. And some options, like rigid foam boards, even offer soundproofing benefits, too.

To cover your HVAC ducts and air vents during construction, use plastic sheets or drop cloths secured with painter's tape. Be sure to cover all supply vents on your floors and walls, as well as the larger HVAC return vent, which is typically on the ceiling. While canvas drop cloths can also be used, they may not catch all the fine dust. It is crucial to shut off your HVAC system or at least the zone where construction is happening. Running the system with vents sealed can put significant strain on the blower motor and air handler. For additional dust containment, you can also hang plastic sheets over doorways to separate the construction area from the rest of your home.

Yes. Bathroom insulation requires a vapor barrier. As a matter of fact, bathrooms and kitchens are the two areas of the home that should always get a vapor barrier because of the excess moisture. If you don’t have a vapor barrier in place in these rooms, the moisture will build up and eventually lead to mold and bacteria, not to mention the destruction of the insulation.

Reflective and high R-value batt or roll insulation are often considered energy-efficient, offering significant thermal resistance benefits.
