"I'm the kind of person who favors independent professionals over large corporations. To this end, when North Bound Plumbing came up, I thought I would give them a try. Aurelio is the owner and a 17 year expert in plumbing, and is realistic about his quotes, and sets the right expectations for the work he does. We had a leaky shower valve and three valves that were leaking outside - the water main, and two garden hose spouts. The leaky shower valve cartridge style valve was so old - it was corroded inside the valve housing. Aurelio was able to remove it and replace it with a new valve. I tried for hours to get that thing out! The water main, he knew right away was not standard, it was a 1 inch main instead of a 3/4 inch. He knew it would be a bit more costly for parts. The prices he quoted matched the final pricing. He was really honest about everything along the way, and explained everything in a way my great grandmother would understand. I have done plumbing myself in the past and understand the lingo. I chose a professional plumber this time because I didn't want to break something and be stuck without water until a professional arrived. With my limited experience, I completely understood the challenges he had, and can say he was 100% honest. He loves new challenges and sticks with the task at hand until completed. He is able to foresee possible overruns and is completely up front about them BEFORE he starts. These are all the qualities of a professional plumber that I look for, and he definitely exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend North Bound Plumbing and its Owner Aurelio for any small or large jobs you need done. He is an independent, licensed and insured plumber! Thanks Aurelio!"

"Casey was very kind and understanding of my needs when calling on a Sunday.. He was honest and asked specific questions to determine the urgency to fix the problem and avoid additional charges on a Sunday. He was punctual and solved our problem in an hour. Very honest and professional. Will call him again when having a plumbing issue."

"Elsy ( I believe she was the plumber from your company via Angi) arrived as scheduled, on Saturday, 09/28/2024. She attempted to repair my garbage disposal unit but was unable to do so as the unit's wiring was worn out. I advised the unit is 40 yrs old. She recommended to purchase a new one. We made a trip together to the local Home Depot store and I purchased the same brand s she recommended. She installed it in record time (within the 2.5 hrs) and completed the job. She also cleaned the work space and carried the old one to my recycling bin. Very satisfied with her work. Also, I want to know if I will receive a billing statement for my records? Thank you for your time & assistance."

"Elias TJ and Matt arrived when planned and got right to work. Friendly, answered all my questions. New shower surround and tub ready to use by 7:00 pm. Was very pleased with their work and the Jacuzzi plumber called in to change water inlet piping from cast iron to a new piping. Really appreciated the fact they were proficient and did not bash other companies . Please change wording from demolition to reconstruction. Demolition connotes blowing things up."

"I had a leak in a pipe in the radiant heating pipes in the slab under my house. James was able to isolate the leak and re plumb my system without cutting a hole in the slab. He and his crew did some great creative plumbing that took care of the leak and separated the unused radiant system from my household plumbing and they even installed a new tankless heater in a single days work.. I recommend James and Bowen Plumbing without reservation. They are the Best!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Hoses can constrict over time. If water isn't coming out of your garden hose, it might be clogged by dirt, rocks, insect nests, and other debris that can find its way in there. If the weather's been cooler lately, water can freeze inside hoses and create clogs when it doesn't melt fast enough. If the water is hard where you live, minerals can build up in the hose and constrict it further.

No, you can’t drain your sump pump into your home’s sewer system. In fact, it’s against the law in many places because dumping extra water into a municipal water system can disrupt or overwhelm the treatment process. And for similar reasons, you shouldn’t discharge a sump pump into your septic system, either.

The best place for a kitchen sink drain is the middle of the sink. Most people prefer center drains because they allow for better water and waste drainage, and the center location limits splashing because water flows straight down the drain hole. If the sink drain is too close to the edge of the sink, water can collect and drain too slowly. It can also be easier to clean sinks when the drain is closer to the center since debris is easier to wash down and doesn’t collect along the sides as easily.

The maximum distance between a washer drain vent and the drainpipe depends on pipe size. A one-and-a-half-inch drainpipe can be no more than 42 inches from the drain vent, a 2-inch drainpipe can be no more than 5 feet away, a 3-inch pipe can be up to 6 feet away, and a 4-inch pipe can be up to 10 feet away.

Whether an earthquake gas shut-off valve is required depends on your location and circumstances. Certain cities, states, and even insurance providers mandate them, especially in areas with high seismic activity. In California, for example, while laws vary by county, most jurisdictions require a valve to be installed in newly constructed homes or when a home is sold or renovated. The Los Angeles Municipal Code specifically requires a licensed contractor for installation. Even if not required by law, installing a seismic shut-off valve is a wise safety measure. These devices automatically cut off the flow of gas during an earthquake, which can prevent gas leaks, fires, and explosions. It is recommended to check with your local building department for specific laws regarding installation, permitting, and inspections, and to ensure the valve you install is on your city's list of approved models.
