Day 2 they did the actual stucco work, which matches the existing pattern exactly. Day 3 they painted, and no one would ever know that any damage had been done. "I was really hoping not to have to resort to writing a poor review. But since Jaime is no longe responding to me to come to a resolution, I feel it necessary to save the next person some trouble. We hired Jaime and his team for a stucco repair. Initially Jaime seemed great. Responsive, punctual, and provided a fair price. He and his team completed the project in a timely manner, but the only way I can describe it is sloppy. The stucco job itself is okay, until you get to the edging around the trim. It is so so messy. They actually put stucco on the trim of one of our windows so we will need to have that scraped before we can paint our trim. Then there’s the mess they left. They pressure washed the house before starting the project and left behind stucco and paint chips. And I mean everywhere. My husband and I have spent 6+ hours cleaning up their mess. There is still stucco covering the ground around the entire house. We have plants and rocks that are completely covered in stucco that will all need to be replaced. Jaime and his team also left behind garbage from their lunches and a pretty horrible surprise behind our back shed. The night they finished the project I found our dogs behind the shed (where they never go) sniffing a pile of human feces including all the napkins used. Flat out disrespectful and unprofessional. So my advice would be to go with another company. I’ve seen good reviews and hopefully this was a one off for Jaime, but I am highly unsatisfied with the work they did and their lack of communication to come to a solution. Save your money."

Plaster that sags or bulges, shows extensive deep cracks, or is crumbling from water damage or simply time may need replacement. Plaster walls can look a little “worn” for a long time before they need replacing. The only real way to know if it needs a replacement is to hire a professional to assess the condition of the plaster.

Plaster provides a durable, soundproof, and moisture-resistant finish compared to drywall.

Drywall can be better than plaster if you’re installing a new wall and want to keep costs low. It’s much cheaper than installing plaster and provides a smooth, uniform surface. Many homeowners simply paint over the drywall or add a texture like sand or orange peel. It’s also much easier to DIY than plaster, and if you need to change your layout, it’s much easier to remove.

If the holes in the plaster are small, you can fill them with layers of patching plaster until they’re filled. After it dries, you can sand the plaster and paint over it. If the hole is much larger, consider using bonding plaster first and then a layer of patching plaster, completing the process with sanding and a layer of paint.

If the water damage is small, such as small patches, you can paint over the area. To prevent mold growth, roll on a coat of an antifungal primer beforehand painting. However, if the damage is more extensive, you may have mold, and the plaster will be compromised. You’ll have to replace the plasterboard.
