"Josh did a great job on my roofing repair! He showed up when he said he would, and the roof looks great! He also installed some replacement skylights and siding. He sent many pics of the job as I wasn’t able to be there when the work was performed. I will definitely use him again."

"I hired them to help with a kitchen renovation project and I could not be more thrilled with the results! Not only was the team so professional and cleaned up after themselves every day so my home was still livable when they weren't working, but the results turned out even better than I could have hoped. They installed brand new cabinets, new marble countertops, and all new appliances and range. If you're looking for a contractor in the Hollister area, these are your guys!"

"This was a difficult task, dismantling a custom designed in ground basketball hoop over 500 lbs. Since it was custom designed it could not be lowered and heavy parts needed to be moved down. I was expecting Joshua to come and walk away from it since he was doing this by himself. But to my surprise, he did an amazing job!"

"Hiring Omar for several different jobs was the best decision I have made in a long time. He built a shed that turned out to be a small house. He installed an attic ladder and 200 sf of flooring. He installed overhead storage shelves. Many different skills were required and he demonstrated them all. I would have him do any job. He was fantastic, fast and reasonable costs."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Baseboard heaters are generally safe and efficient, but they can be dangerous if safety precautions are not followed. To ensure safety, do not block the heaters with furniture, drapes, open doors, or other items, and maintain clear space around them for proper heat flow. Regularly check that items have not fallen on or under the units. If you have children or pets, make sure they stay clear of hot heaters to avoid burns. For added safety, consider models with an automatic shut-off feature and have them professionally tested. If a problem occurs with a baseboard heater, always contact a qualified electrician or HVAC professional for repairs.

After a house fire, you should not reenter your home unless the fire crew has told you it’s safe to do so. In the longer term, you should not attempt to make repairs to the house on your own. Professional crews are trained to clean up after a fire (including smoke and soot damage), dry out any water damage from the firefighter crews, and make the necessary structural, plumbing, and electrical repairs—and this is all likely covered by insurance.

According to the National Fire Protection Association’s Code NFPA 25 (titled “Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems”), private fire hydrants must undergo inspection once per year, with an accompanying flow test and any necessary maintenance performed on the same schedule. Keep in mind that your town, city, or county may adopt more or less strict testing requirements.

Concrete homes have better fire resistance because this material is highly resistant to fire and heat. But any paint, siding, windows, roofing, or other materials on a concrete home may still be flammable. Never try to stay in a building with a large, active fire or a wildfire approaching because this can still be deadly. However, building a fireproof home with concrete can better protect the structure against total destruction.

When a carbon monoxide alarm goes off, you should always take it seriously. Infrequent and occasional chirps often point to a low battery, a faulty device, or dust buildup (this usually affects smoke detectors and not standalone CO detectors). A continuous alarm signals an emergency, and you should immediately evacuate and call 911. When it comes to carbon monoxide in your home, it’s better safe than sorry.
