"WOW.
I thought my 30 year old redwood deck wasn't salvageable, but Rupert convinced me to do so.  He was very prompt & reliable & knowledgeable and everything went as planned.    A real pleasure to work with, especially if you prefer texting over e-mails!!
I thought it was going to need replacement, a cost of $20,000 using a wood/plastic composite.  I am glad I didn't spend all that money- I would have had a plastic deck (Trex )that would scratch/warp/stain/turn to plastic-dust ( according to reviews at http://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/trex_composite_decking.html)
Instead, I have a sturdy splinter free redwood deck and $18,000 still in my pocket.  Environmentally I saved as well, by 'fixing & reusing rather than buying/manufacturing plastics that would end up un-decomposed in a landfill one day.
If you want a facelift on your old deck- Summit Deck Doctors is the way to go.
If you think your deck is dying and needs to be buried & replaced, don't do so without asking Summit Deck Doctors to resuscitate it.

"This is the 3rd project i have done with Lance Sanchez painting. It is the first time we have had Shawn and Jamie working for us. They are professional, very courteous and left the job site clean and orderly at the end of every day. There price was competitive but not the lowest bid i received. Because of my prior experience with Sanchez painting i decided to spend just a little more and go with them. The house looks great and we couldnâ t be happier with the job! The only unhappy one is â Moseâ our Labrador retriever. He has spent the last 3 mornings on the porch looking for Shawn and Jamie."

"We had an excellent experience with Bob and his 3 man crew from the very beginning to the end. First of all, he answers his cell phone and returns emails promptly. He was friendly, very amenable to critiques, and extremely flexible with his time and work. Due to delays with the other contractors, which interrupted Bob's work, he was very accommodating and worked with the schedule of the other contractors on the job. He returned several times to complete finish work so that the entire just was perfect. In addition, during the job, Bob and his crew were polite, very neat, and cleaned up each day. Bob was an absolute delight to work with and we were very pleased that we found him thri Angie's List!!! And we certainly appreciated the discount!"

"We worked with Ali (sales manager) and Tony (project manager), who took the time to design a project that made sense for our property and our budget, made a number of suggestions and recommendations and were never pushy or tried to "sell" us on something. The crew really went above and beyond to provide top quality workmanship and overall we were in very good hands. Highly recommended!"

"Bill and his team did a FANTASTIC job painting our new home that was in need of some bright new paint.  The walls were in pretty awful shape with lots of dings, drywall issues, some walls needing wall paper removal not to mention the crown molding either needing to be replaced or smoothed out.  Bill came for an estimate right away when I contacted him (accommodating after work hours) and spent a lot of time with me discussing how he'd do the job and explaining different aspects of painting to me. I had a lot of questions and he was patient and so informative.  He also happily came back out to the house to answer follow up questions before he started the job.
He arrived with his crew on time right when he said he'd start the job and they finished on time in 4 days. I couldn't believe the amount of prep work they did to get the walls in good shape to paint and in the end, it looks amazing. Everyone compliments me on what a great job they did and how good the house looks now- it's amazing what paint can do!
Bill is so knowledgeable and is always happy to answer your questions.   He also will let you proceed as you planned without complaint (I really wanted to use BM colors vs. color matching to Behr paint) and go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with the job in the end.  He even spaced out painting the bedrooms so I'd have somewhere to sleep each night!
The tape job they did to make sure none of our stuff was damaged was impressive and they cleaned up so well. His crew is friendly, professional, and I had no problem letting them come into the house each day while we were at work to do the job.
We will have them back to do some other paints jobs we have planned, but we so happy we found Bill and his team!

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

Pressure-treated decks last 15 to 20 years on average, but with proper maintenance, you could get 40 to 50 years of value from yours. Reseal your deck every one to two years, and replace old or rotted wood as soon as possible to avoid structural damage. Where you live plays a role in the lifespan of your deck. Intense sunlight, rainfall, wind, and hail can reduce the deck’s lifespan.

Whether to paint or stain a deck depends on your personal preference for appearance and budget. Stain provides a natural look with a range of undertones, is typically less expensive, and may only require one coat, but it does not last as long as paint. Paint offers a sleeker finish with a virtually unlimited color palette. Both options will protect your deck from outdoor elements like rain, snow, and general wear and tear.

For the best results, stay off of your deck for at least 48 hours after sealing it. Giving the sealant at least two full days to cure ensures it can fully penetrate the wood, giving you the most protection from sun and weather damage later on. Walking on the deck too soon can prevent it from properly curing and cause your deck to weather prematurely.
