Small jobs welcome

"Larry was prompt and business-like and after reviewing the interior painting needs of our house in Carmel he got back to me with an written, emailed price and list of tasks that he would complete. He completed everything in a timely manner and was careful in his work. There were a couple of very small areas that he missed (the house is a bit dark and the architecture unique making the detailing a little challenging) but he came back the next day and painted them out. He left the worksite clean and tidy. I will definitely hire him again. He is very trustworthy, respectful of our time and pleasant to work with."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

There are approximately 5.33 board feet in a 2x4. You can use the board foot calculator in this article to easily find the answer. A 2x4 is 2 inches of thickness by 4 inches of width, so you need to find the length, with 8 feet being the most common. You’d use the calculator here to multiply 2 times 4 times 8, and then divide by 12, arriving at a total of 5.33 board feet.

What goes under your floating deck depends on your preferences. Some homeowners put landscaping fabric underneath their decks to prevent weeds from popping up through the boards. Others choose to build a floating deck over grass or gravel. However, it’s best not to set your deck directly on the ground. Instead, set your deck on blocks to keep it elevated enough to prevent moisture from rotting the wood.

Yes, you can attach a deck to a mobile home, but it’s important that the work be done correctly to avoid the potential for major damage to your home. Many building codes require that any additions to mobile homes—including decks—be either freestanding or have their own support structures. Getting permits may require submitting the home's original floor plan, the proposed floor plan, framing details, and more.

Many composite decking manufacturers, including the popular Trex brand, offer warranties that protect against warping under specific conditions. These warranties typically last between 20 and 50 years, but they usually exclude claims related to improper installation of the product. Some manufacturer warranties only cover decks built by certified professionals.

Routine cleaning, sealing/staining, and inspection prolong deck life and appearance.
