"First, about me: I am a 70-year-old male from an older generation. When they sent two young girls with tattoos, I thought, “oh great! (Sad but true). These two girls were probably the best technicians I have ever had the lucky break to hire in my 70 years. This area is notorious for being very slack in the quality of any of the people they send out. These girls were over and above everything I could have possibly hoped for— and I am a man that sets the bar high! If you’re looking for any project at all around your home, at least give them a chance to talk to you. You simply can’t do better. Their professionalism, their warmth and friendliness and above all, their expertise is everything you could hope for when you retain someone to work on your home. God used them to teach me a lesson about judging a book by its cover, lol. Again, I don’t mean to “gush” but you do not know how refreshing it is to get people who show up on time, who “know their stuff” and are warm and friendly to boot. The year was 1950, on the heels of the second world war Jack Lavine, a young entrepreneur and heating and air conditioning craftsman opened Lavine & Co., a heating company in Oakland California with a dream and a passion for serving his community. Just a few years later, halfway across the country in the small town of Bessemer, Bob Broman opened Blue Flame Heating with the same dream, drive and passion to help his community thrive in the bitter cold of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. While Bob continued as the owner/operator of Blue Flame Heating until his retirement in 2005, Jack partnered with Norm Kay to help grow his business. Lavine & Co. grew, but slower than they wanted, so they brought in some “fresh blood”, Norm’s son Dale to accelerate growth. With Lavine & Co. growing into a leader in the Oakland heating market, Dale quickly realized he needed more help. In 1998 he brought on his niece Jacque Santos. Jacque and Dale led Lavine’s to over a decade of prosperity, until 2009 when they opted for a better lifestyle in the Central Valley. In 2009 Honey's. was born. "On 9/29/24, Justin from Noble came out to install a toilet flange riser. He looked at it and told me it would be between $450 and $550. I felt that was a very high price but a toilet is a necessity. It took him 2 hours from start to finish, but over an hour of that time, he was out buying parts at a Home Depot that is only 7 miles away. I was surprised that he didnâ t have parts with him considering this is a very common plumbing problem, plus I told them what I needed over the phone when I made the appointment and specifically said that I was telling them so he could show up with parts. When he said he was done, I looked at the toilet and noticed there were no caps on the bolts that hold it down. I asked if he was going to put some on, he said that most of the time he doesnâ t. He said he would put some on if I wanted, I told him I did. Who prefers the bolts showing on their toilet??? When he was done, he advised that the amount due was $490.00. I asked what their labor rate is, he said $250/hr. It seemed really high so I asked if it was because it was Saturday. He said â No, thatâ s our regular rateâ . So I was charged for two hours of which most of that time was spent on his trip to Home Depot 7 miles away. I paid him. As he processed the transaction on his phone, I asked if I would receive a detailed receipt. He assured me I would receive a detailed receipt in an email as soon as he finished creating it. It is now a day later and I have not received anything. Very disappointing. So in short: 1) So far the toilet is functional. 2) Justin was a pretty nice guy. 3) Price for the job was awfully high. I feel the job should have been 1/2 that amount because he should have had the necessary parts. I feel gouged. 4) The worst part is that I have not received a receipt for my $490.00!!"
