"After a disappointing job by Molly Maids, I hired C&H to do the job right. Rosa worked her magic and the place sparkles! Al was very responsive when we were setting up the appt and he arrived with Rosa to go over what needed to be done. He also came back at completion and rolled up his sleeves and helped sweep out the garage. Many thanks for your hard work!"

"Our driveway was falling apart, so we had several contractors come out and gives us bids. DreamCraft came in with a bid that was within our budget, so we decided to give them a try. To say they did an amazing job is an understatement. They went above and beyond. For example, the bottom stairway that was connected to the driveway fell apart during demolition. They took the responsibility of fixing it and put in a new beautiful half-moon lower stairway, which really makes the driveway pop. Yes I said pop ;). They stamped and added conduit so we can add lighting which wasnâ t even mentioned in any of the other bids. They also added a larger curb and removed and replaced an old brick wall with a new concrete one. Hiring DreamCraft was the best decision we could have ever made and could go on and on about how great they were to work with and how please we are with their work. We will recommend them to all of our friends and family. Now every morning we start the day by admiring our new driveway, we canâ t believe how beautiful it is! Thank you DreamCraft"

"Mark and his crew did an excellent job remodeling my bathroom. It looks absolutely beautiful. His crew also put in lighting in my kitchen and removed some cabinetry. The kitchen now looks more spacious. They also replaced the flooring in one of my bathroom downstairs. I was so pleased with the upstairs bathroom, I had Mark and his crew remodel my downstairs bathroom. My son and daughter-in-law were so impressed with the results, they wanted Mark to work on their home but they live outside his service area."

"The crew was punctual, cleaned up every day, and were very professional.  Juve was very thorough and checked for approval on things as he went along.  The bathrooms look great and we couldn't be more satisfied.  We would definitely recommend Specialty Home Improvement.

"I received quotes from four different companies before choosing Shiro Builders Group, and the difference was obvious from the beginning. While other contractors focused mostly on price, Shir took the time to understand the project, explain the process, and provide realistic expectations. This is exactly how a remodeling project should be approached. The entire kitchen renovation was handled professionally and efficiently. The job site was kept clean, communication was consistent, and every phase of the project moved forward smoothly. There were no surprises, no unnecessary delays, and no shortcuts. The finished product exceeded our expectations. The cabinetry, countertops, floating shelves, tile work, and overall attention to detail came together beautifully. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and the quality is visible in every part of the kitchen. What impressed us most was how seamless the experience felt from start to finish. Shir was involved throughout the project, answered e"

Garages questions, answered by experts

We recommend plywood and solid wood. Particleboard and MDF (medium-density fiberboard) are often too weak to hold significant loads, and could sag or deform under pressure. Plywood or solid wood are meant to last, and can handle the weight of several large items. If you want to spend a little more for a moisture-resistant material, you can consider using steel.

With the exception of small, lightweight torsion-spring garage doors, which can operate with one spring, most garage doors require two springs to work properly. Garage doors with extension springs always require two springs—if one extension spring is broken or otherwise failing, the garage door may open unevenly and could pose a hazard if the remaining spring fails.

It’s better to build a garage than buy and install a prefabricated one. You can save money by purchasing a prefabricated metal garage kit for between $4,000 and $11,000. However, this does not include the price of labor and permits, which can account for more than half of the project cost. Building a new garage over buying a prefab garage will add more value to your home and will last longer, so it’s more cost-effective over time to build a new garage.

Christmas lights and decorations are prone to heat and humidity damage, so keep this in mind if you store them in the garage. Put the lights in plastic bins with tight-fitting lids to keep moisture out to keep them safe until next year.

Wood, steel, fiberglass, and aluminum are among the top building materials for a garage. Wood is highly customizable, naturally insulative, and durable in mild climates but can be expensive. Steel is lightweight, low-maintenance, and cost-effective, but it’s susceptible to rust. Fiberglass is low-maintenance and doesn’t shrink or expand in changing temperatures, but it can become brittle and crack from prolonged high winds and sun exposure.

Unlike steel, aluminum isn’t susceptible to rust and is low-maintenance, but its ultra-light weight makes it less durable than some materials, and it’s susceptible to saltwater damage, making it a poor choice for coastal homes.
