"Honest, reasonably priced. Fixed my ancient furnace quickly at a fair price instead of pressuring to purchase replacement....and Matt's quote for new furnace (same capacity as competition) was about 1/2 that other quote. Bottom line, Matt/Kazen saved me over $4K with quick repair!! Will use again if need arises. Thanks!!"

"I hired DEW for upgrading electrical panel and change multiple outlets in one of my rental. Yash and his assistant electrician started job early in the morning at exact scheduled time and finished it without much downtime. My tenants are happy as job was finished before noon on a hot day. DEW electricians are well qualified with good customer service skills. I am satisfied customer as quality work was done at reasonable cost and on time."

"Elsy ( I believe she was the plumber from your company via Angi) arrived as scheduled, on Saturday, 09/28/2024. She attempted to repair my garbage disposal unit but was unable to do so as the unit's wiring was worn out. I advised the unit is 40 yrs old. She recommended to purchase a new one. We made a trip together to the local Home Depot store and I purchased the same brand s she recommended. She installed it in record time (within the 2.5 hrs) and completed the job. She also cleaned the work space and carried the old one to my recycling bin. Very satisfied with her work. Also, I want to know if I will receive a billing statement for my records? Thank you for your time & assistance."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

A calculation method that your HVAC contractor will use to ensure your system does what it's supposed to is measuring duct output, or its CFM. The calculation requires knowing the cross-sectional area of the ductwork and determining the air speed past any given point within it.

If you know how to identify supply and return ducts, you’ll find that only the supply ducts will have dampers. Although your return ducts can have dampers, it’s not common. If you have one return duct that is pulling in too much air, adding a damper to it can help with overall system performance. However, dampers on return ducts are not a necessary addition for most homes.

You can protect your air conditioner in the winter by turning off the power at the thermostat and performing routine HVAC maintenance in the spring. Regular maintenance, cleaning, and repair of your AC unit helps protect it and extend its life span. If you have a window AC unit, remove it from the window and store it in a dry place during the winter. Window units cannot withstand freezing temperatures. Keeping them in your window also allows cold air to seep into your home.

The difference between a home surge protector and an HVAC surge protector is that an HVAC surge protector is designed to protect the components inside your HVAC unit while a home surge protector is installed near appliances and meant to protect your entire home. There are three tiers of whole-house surge protectors, and they are more expensive to install than HVAC surge protectors.

You can buy R-22 refrigerant for your home air-conditioning system through your local AC repair specialist, who can also refill your R-22 system as needed. You may find that the cost of R-22 has gone up due to shortages as the EPA banned this refrigerant. Ask your pro to inspect your system for any leaks or issues.
