"Joe is hard working, diligent, and honest. I hired him 1) to put up an antenna for local tv service and 2) to fix poor wifi signals. TV was converted from cable rapidly using leftover wires. Saving $ not paying for cable and streaming off wifi. Great signal strength! WiFi was harder. He worked with ATT to determine my new iMac was sucking signals. He installed a more powerful router that solved wifi issues when iMac is off. Now I have to work with Apple to figure out how to manage the computer searching. I would not hesitate to call Joe back again. He is an excellent technician and a fine person. He is pretty busy, so sometimes it takes a few days before he can come out, but he is worth the wait."

"I went to HomeAdvisor/Angi for good recommendations on a Security Camera installer, important to me is advice and creative solutions to minimize holes on house to avoid moisture instrusion, etc. I had a few calls my choice was Omar. (the others were showing off their credentials which is like to me not a good sign).. I also checked extensively the reviews. So as not to commit I initially asked for advice on camera placement and price quote. Omar was professional, we could tell he had pride in his craft. I also asked for Cat 6 wiring because my Lorex camera came with Cat5e, for the best communication, and I got it too. The attachments against the outside wall looked very professional and clean. I had 4 cameras and Omar was able to efficiently utilize camera angles and minimize the wall extrusions. I am really pleased with his work. I will recommend him to anyone who asks for my opinion! Thank you so much, Omar!"

Tv Antenna Installation questions, answered by experts

Options include outdoor, indoor, and rooftop antennas. Choose based on signal needs and location.

If you’re having problems with poor reception, here are some simple tips that may help improve the signal and picture quality.

  • Consider the position of the antenna: Could it be higher, is it secure, or are nearby obstructions interfering with the signal? For a directional antenna, you may need to reposition it in the direction of the broadcast tower.

  • Move any metallic objects: Metal can interfere or block reception, so if you have stainless steel objects or the antenna is near a wrought-iron fence, this could be a problem. Try to keep the antenna at least six feet away from metal objects..

  • Cable length: An overly long cable can reduce signal strength. If you don’t need as much cable as you are using, it may be better to exchange it for a shorter one.

There aren’t any guarantees that the TV antenna you purchase and install will provide perfect reception. Much depends on your distance from broadcasting towers, any nearby obstructions, and typical weather. However, doing some research minimizes the risk of disappointment.

You can speak to neighbors to understand their setup. Various online tools allow you to check how far you are from TV transmitters in your area. The Federal Communications Commission, for example, has a tool enabling you to check local Digital TV channel reception.

Selecting the right type of antenna for your situation and having it properly positioned and installed will also increase the chances of better reception.

Before your TV antenna stops working, there are a few ways to tell it’s starting to break. Some common signs that your antenna needs repair include:

  • A repetitive “no signal” issue

  • A redundant “searching” issue

  • Increased signal issues during a cloudy or rainy day

  • A sudden drop in signal strength, regardless of the weather

If you’re experiencing these problems, you’ll want to ensure that your cables are still in good shape and have not deteriorated. In addition, check to make sure that your cables are firmly in place at the wall outlet. Finally, check the position of your antenna to ensure there are no obstructions in its path. If you’ve checked your antenna thoroughly and are still having these problems, a repair is most likely needed by an antenna technician.

Most repairs take 1-4 hours, but complex signal issues may require further troubleshooting.
