"We first talked to Frank at the beginning of December, and settled upon him as our landscaper just before Christmas.  

Originally, we were not going to remove all of the brickwork (due to mounting costs of the project), and we were going to build the retaining wall on top of what appeared to be the beginnings of such a wall under the existing fence.  During the demolition process, we discovered that there were no footings under any of the existing brickwork or under the fence.  Since this had to be rectified, we increased our budget accordingly, both for increased demo which required more equipment, and for the cost of concrete to pour a proper footing for the retaining wall.  In the case of the retaining wall footing, Frank only charged us for materials, despite the fact it was a half day's work just to pour it.  Frank's crew even worked weekends in order to avoid slipping the schedule.

All the work performed so far is top notch.  We will be contracting with Frank again over the summer in order to plant one of the beds in the backyard, and for weather sealing the concrete and new fence.
