"A Plus Tile Marble Stone and their Project Leader Ted, are solid professionals! For a reasonable price, they provided a total white glove service from beginning to end of my kitchen remodel project. Ted is very particular about measurements, stone quality, and matching patterns in the stone, with an eye for detail and aesthetic. His suggestions for the project approach showed a deep level of experience, understanding and care. His team worked quickly and he delivered on time with high quality results. I highly recommend A Plus Tile Marble Stone."

Small jobs welcome

"Jim and his crew Paco, Louis and three other men were marvelous! The countertops look beautiful. Construction took two days and they swept and cleaned up each day, which many other contractors don't do. Jim was very communicative and his quote was accurate and very competitive. This was by far one of the best experiences we have had with a contractor. Highly recommended!"

"My granite countertop was heavily stained with deeply embedded grease all around the stovetop area. I bought the house this way, thinking I could clean it myself, but soon realized this is a specialized type of process. I also needed regrouting and polishing. Luis gave me a reasonable bid, showed up on time to do the work, and removed the stains, grouted, and polished. It looks great. My overall experience with OC Marble Restoration was very good. I highly recommend their services."

Stone Countertops questions, answered by experts

The best tool for cutting countertops depends on the type of countertop material. For some softer materials, like laminate (Formica) and butcher block, you can use a hand saw, but most experts recommend power saws like circular saws, since these make the job go faster and easier and give more even results. However, power saws and circular saws are dangerous if used incorrectly, and they can be so powerful that they damage or chip laminate, stone, and other types of countertops. For this reason, you should take safety precautions and use best practices to prevent damage.

Silicone caulk is the most common adhesive used to attach a vanity top. It’s flexible, water-resistant, and resistant to mold and mildew, which can grow in humid environments like a bathroom. While you can apply caulk without a caulk gun, the application is easier and less messy with a quality caulk gun for a more even application.

Silestone® is a low-maintenance countertop material, but certain things, like strong chemicals and solvents, can cause damage. Abrasive scrubs can cause scratches, and products that contain oil or powder can leave a residue. Finally, avoid letting oven cleaner come into contact with Silestone® because it can cause discoloration.

Silestone® is a brand of quartz countertops; one isn’t necessarily better, but they have their differences. Silestone® costs slightly more than the average quartz countertop because you’re paying for the brand name and unique features. For example, Silestone® is often more sustainable than regular quartz because you can purchase varieties made with recycled materials. It also has antibacterial properties and design options some homeowners prefer. Plus, you can use it across your whole kitchen rather than solely for countertops.

If you're looking to break up a stone slab or some landscaping stone, the process is very similar to breaking up a boulder, and may in fact be easier because it is easier to access and not as deeply buried into the ground.
