Customers say: True professional

"Good plumbers are hard to find!! I spoke with 3 for this job and so glad I found FDL!! Francisco worked super fast and did excellent work! Very responsive via chat and phone and kept me updated during the entire project. He even went above and beyond and purchased hardware for me from the store. Would easily use again and have already added to my contacts for the next project! Super fair pricing!"

"Ken showed up on time and fixed our problem quickly and professionally. Evaluated the issue with our toilet and presented me with a couple of options to get it fixed. Was very clear on price which was very helpful. While working on the project he was very careful to not damage anything and to make sure that the problem was solved. Highly recommended."

"It was a pleasure being able to have Robert come out to help with my family s water heater issues. He was very friendly and is a well experienced plumber (I believe he told me 20 years as a licensed plumber). Response time was excellent, same day service, and the cost of service was more reasonable than any other estimates we received. I would highly recommend Robert and Drain Right to my friends or family, and I will be reaching out for his plumbing services again if I ever encounter any plumbing issues while I m still living in the Bay Area."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can clean a toilet tank with white vinegar. Before you do, shut off the water supply to the toilet. Then, flush it to empty the tank. Next, combine one part vinegar with one part water in a spray bottle and spray the mixture inside the tank. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse away the vinegar by pouring clean water into the tank. Make sure the tank is empty, then dip a scrub brush in vinegar and clean the tank’s inside walls. Turn the water back on and flush again to rinse away the vinegar.

No, your toilet tank should not empty completely when you flush. Although the water level will dip a lot after you flush, it shouldn’t be totally empty. If your tank is empty, you might have issues with your fill valve, float ball, or toilet trip lever. You should check all of your toilet parts to ensure they’re working correctly and make any necessary adjustments.

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.

The toilet flange anchors to the subfloor, usually with wood screws or cement screws, but most of it should sit above floor level at full height. When a flange is flush with the subfloor or below it, it can lead to the creation of leak paths.

Silicone-based caulk is known for its waterproofing qualities, so it’s the best option for any bathroom area. While it’s often more expensive, it will provide a better, longer-lasting seal than acrylic or latex caulk. Use it along the base of the toilet to prevent leaks and keep the area clean and protected.
