Small jobs welcome

"Wade and his workmen from J W Tile Stone have been reliable and hardworking, showing up on time and making sure that the job is done correctly. There were a few minor issues (one team did not clean up after themselves to my satisfaction, there were a few very minor imperfections in an element of the grout work done, e.g.), but Wade promptly and cheerfully corrected the details even after he had been paid in cash, in full, upon completion of the work, as agreed in advance. One of the things I most appreciated about Wade is that, as a first time home remodeler, Wade helped me find great bargains for our amazing counter material. He was always a straight shooter, always willing to explain what was happening during the process, and kept me in the decision making loop from the start, always treated me with friendly respect, did not try to talk over my head to my husband, who was not making the decisions anyway. In short, I recommend Wade White and J W Tile and Stone without reservation."

"Brian and his crew were exceptional professional and certainly knew what they were doing. The entire job was done in one day, as requested. I was actually able to go and pick the exact slabs to be used. Was extremely reasonably priced compared to other quotes for over 63 sq. feet which included thing like backsplashes and windows sills. Excellent workmanship and delightful to work with."

"We hired Sam and his professional team to remodel our master bathroom, guest bathroom, remove some lighting and to install recessed lights in the kitchen. We are very pleased with the work they did! All the bathrooms are gorgeous and the recessed lights are perfect. Sam and the crew worked at the house every day until the remodeling was completed. They worked very professionally and efficient. Definitely perfect craftsmanship. Sam was also easy person to work and talk with, very comit man to all of our requests. We’ve absolutely found our contractor!"

"Progressive home remodeling did an above-average job on my bathroom remodeling project. The timeframe was set in stone from the very beginning. I appreciate their professionalism and willingness to accommodate my budget. My bathroom looks precisely how I envisioned it. I plan on hiring this company again for future projects because they remained consistent throughout the entire project. This is the kind of company you want inside your home. They also accommodate budgets and base the project on whatever yours is!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Glass tile can cost as much as or more than other durable tile types. When choosing the right tile for you, knowing the advantages and disadvantages of each can help you make an informed decision. The pros and cons of glass tile include:

Pros

  • Light-reflecting to add brightness

  • Waterproof and mold-resistant

  • Made from recyclable materials

Cons

  • High cost compared to similar and more durable materials

  • Usually requires professional installation

  • More easily scratched compared to materials like ceramic and porcelain

Per the International Code Council, walk-in shower floors should have a minimum slope of 1/4-inch per foot (or a 2% slope) towards the drain. The slope should be no steeper than 1/2-inch per foot (or a 4% slope). This helps safely direct water into the drain rather than all over your bathroom.

Yes, you can use paint if you want to refresh your tile countertops. However, you must be mindful of the type of paint you use. Look for options explicitly created for tile that are also waterproof and durable. Over time, the paint will chip, so this is not considered a long-term solution for busy kitchens.

If the hearth ends against a wall, you can use a tile cutter as you normally would. However, if the edge of your hearth ends with no surface pressing against it,you may want to look into rounded tiles. These give a smooth edge to your hearth and make sure cut edges aren’t visible. You can also see if the tile you have has pieces that have been glazed or rounded on one edge. You’d then cut the tile and place it normally, with the cut edge facing inward.

As long as you follow the instructions on your peel-and-stick tile packaging, it should not damage your walls. A possible instance when you may accidentally damage your walls is if you install tiles improperly using additional adhesives that aren’t recommended.

Also, you can damage your walls if you’re not careful when removing tile. For example, you could accidentally make holes in the drywall with a paint scraper if you don’t heat the adhesive long enough before trying to pry it off.
