Customers say: Quality work

"Superb workmanship! Recently, I removed some very old brown wall paneling from two rooms and hallway in my older home. The drywall behind the paneling was not taped, most corners were crooked, and some corners had a least a one inch gap or more! Marty was fair about his price, but the best thing he did was to put Javier on my project! Javier was an excellent, efficient worker, who had a pleasant attitude. I could tell Javier felt confident to cover the large gaps between the walls, he listened to my concerns, he was detailed oriented, he was organized moving quickly between rooms waiting for plaster to dry, and he was committed to getting the job done, which he had to stay late to complete! Javier has the craftsmanship that I wish all worker would have. Don't forget to ask for Javier for your project!"

"Kevin was very professional. He completed our drywall repair in half the time he told us he would. He was respectful of our property. He cleaned up after done. We would definitely recommend Kevin Arias. He did a great job of repairing a Crack in the drywall in our bathroom, and he fixed a spot in our Living Room where we had a bubble in our wall due to water damage in the wall.we would definitely use Kevin Arias again if needed. "Alex was professional and did an excellent job. He was timely and showed great skill within his drywall finish work. I was in a bind as I needed someone immediately to remove the old, so my AC installer could get a split system into my attic, Alex showed up to give a quote and actually did the removal portion of the job that same day. When I called him to schedule when he would return, he responded immediately and showed up when promised. Like I said, I am extremely happy with his work. Thank you Alex"

"They were amazing from start to finish. They kept me up to date. Showed up when they said. Got the work not only quickly, but went above and beyond what was expected. They were hired to do ceiling. But, he noticed cracks in my wall and repaired those as well. And did not charge extra. I will definitely use them in the future. And will be referring them as well."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

When you are learning how to tape and mud drywall, waiting for things to dry requires a lot of patience. So how long does drywall mud take to dry? On average, it takes about 24 hours. However, it depends on things like the thickness of the mud, as well as the room’s temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Using thin layers of mud in a warm, low-humidity room with good airflow reduces average drying time. You also could speed up drying time by making use of hot drywall mud, which consists of a powder that you mix with water, instead of using pre-mixed mud.

You can skim coat plaster, but it’s better to repair the plaster itself. A skim coat is a thin coat of drywall joint compound spread over the surface of a wall. The result is a flat finish that looks pleasing, but part of the appeal of plaster is its imperfections and aesthetic. Skim coating is best when limited to drywall applications.

Yes, you can hammer a nail into a wall stud. But before you do, it’s important to confirm that you’re actually nailing into a stud—and not wiring, pipes, or ductwork. To check, find a few more studs in the wall, then measure to make sure they’re either 16 or 24 inches apart.

You should wait at least 24 hours for drywall mud to dry before sanding or applying another coat. However, the exact drying time depends on several factors, including the thickness of the application, room temperature, humidity, and the type of compound used. Thicker layers, or projects in high humidity, may require 48 hours or more. Lightweight compounds tend to dry faster than heavier, all-purpose ones. You'll know the mud is ready when it feels completely dry and firm to the touch and has changed to a consistent light color. Sanding too early can cause smudging or gouges, so patience is essential for a smooth finish.
