C2C went out of their way to make sure they accommodated my timeline, worked with insurance, drove their contractors to schedule, addressed every small nit-picky thing I pointed out (with a smile), and finished the job like pro's. Special shout to David and Ryan. David was a savant at dealing with my insurance adjuster and got us the best payout. Ryan is a project management extraordinaire, and was fantastic to work through this restoration project. Can't say enough good things about these guys. Then they went silent for 2 months. It is October and we sing contract in August, we finally got response that the contractor got busy with larger projects...This is very disrespectful and non professional behavior."

There are several tools that you will use together to install tiles. Four of the most basic tools needed in tile installation include a notched trowel for applying tile adhesive, a tile cutter or saw for cutting tiles to size, tile spacers for creating the appropriate amount of space between tiles, and a grout float for applying grout.

Tiling over your existing backsplash is possible with the right materials and preparation. To do this, the existing backsplash must be clean and free of damage. If you’re installing the new tiles with thinset mortar, the thinset will fill in the existing grout lines as you go, so there won’t be any low spots. If you’re installing a peel and stick tile backsplash, you’ll need to add grout to the existing grout lines first to create a level surface.

A cement backer board is not needed for laying tile on concrete. Sometimes referred to as a cementitious backer unit, or CBU, backer board should be used if the subfloor is plywood or OSB. The backer board provides a base on which to install the tiles that isn’t as likely to be damaged by any accidental water seepage as natural materials would be.

Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Caulk goes in corners or where two different materials meet (like where the bathtub meets the tile) to create a waterproof seal. However, they are not interchangeable—you shouldn't use caulk to adhere tile and shouldn’t use mortar if you need a waterproof seal.

You have creative freedom when it comes to your tile trim. If, however, you are considering skipping tile trim, please think twice about that. It is good practice to install tile trim, whether on walls or flooring. Think, too, about the aesthetic you are going for and choose a trim type and color that will help enhance the space.
