"Nice guys. Very professional. Installed two pendant lights over the kitchen island to existing electrical boxes. They were quick and friendly and are sure we were happy with how it all looked. Thanks!"

"My previous electrician had sadly done a terrible job performing my panel upgrade from 100a to 200a. Also, the permitting stages were not followed and I was unfortunately not compliant because of it. After shopping around for many electricians, I eventually met Mike and knew he was the guy that I was going to work with. Mike explained every detail one step at a time. My project was a large project since I was to not only rewire my 200amp panel, we had to fix grounding, water bonding, and also Trench 4 feet deep for SDGE to upgrade our line from 100a to 200a as well. This was a long and stressful process that became super easy because of the effort and work put in by Mike and his team. Mike was here for all of the permitting stages whenever the city or SDGE was here, so that he could answer all their questions and concerns directly. Mike will continue being my electrician from now on. I highly suggest MIke and his team for all of your electrician needs. They are very quick to answer phone calls, text messages, explain all processes and next steps. Super fortunate to have Mike on my home improvement team."

"I needed a Lucid 80A charging station installed. I couldn't find any electrician with this experience and some even balked due to the perceived technical difficulty. I spoke with Erik and shared my requirement, and he stated that it wouldn't be a problem. Erik not only installed the charger in short order (at a fair price), he also submitted the permit request with the City of Irvine and scheduled the City inspection This type of service is unheard of. I haven't even spoken about how easy he is to work with and how he professionally communicates. He listened to my needs and met everyone one of them. I will know use Erik for all my electrical needs. Thank you Erik!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Fabian, of KVA Electricc, showed up early and started replacing my old fluorescent bulbs with new LED lights. He was very professional and was careful not to interfere with customers while doing the installation. He got the work done much sooner than expected and without any problems whatsoever. He provided me with all the receipts for his purchases. Fabian was a pleasure to work with and I would hire him again if the need arose. Highly recommend."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, a whole-house surge protector needs a designated breaker in your electrical panel. You will need to choose a double pole breaker that has two wire terminals so that your surge protector can connect to the breaker. This breaker needs two breaker slots inside of your panel. If you do not have room, then you will either need to adjust some of the existing breakers in the panel box or hire an electrician to install a subpanel.

While most electrical items can be plugged into a GFCI outlet, some appliances with internal or stationary motors, such as refrigerators, vent fans, and fluorescent lighting, can cause nuisance tripping. This happens because they experience a small, normal amount of current leakage, which can cause the GFCI to trip even when the appliance is working correctly. Although this is not a safety hazard, it can be inconvenient and may cause the GFCI outlet to wear out faster. For this reason, it is often better to plug these types of appliances into a standard outlet. Additionally, electrical circuits over 100 feet long can sometimes cause tripping. Some appliances, like hair dryers, have their own built-in GFCI protection, so connecting them to a standard outlet is fine.

The hot wire is typically black, but it's essential to use a non-contact voltage tester to confirm the electrical wire color code before working on it. Neutral wires are typically white. It’s vital to determine which wire is carrying electrical current before proceeding with any electrical work.

Usually, your house panel is one of the key components that must be replaced when upgrading your amp service. In many cases, you will also need to upgrade your meter base as well as other electrical components.

Multiple wire sizes are used for residential electrical purposes. While the most common sizes used in homes are 14 and 12 gauge, some appliances, such as stoves, electric water heaters, central air units, etc., may use larger gauge wire to accommodate their larger amperage. Typically, larger appliances require 10-, 8-, or 6-gauge wires.
