"I contacted Bob Russell through email. He responded back promptly. We exchanged a few emails. I had some questions about his services--especially related to the antenna.

We set up a date and a morning appointment. He rang my bell the morning of the agreed up date. Asked some questions about the gutters and started working. He did a great job.

I have had my gutters cleaned in the past, but the people who did the work left a mess. I had to clean up the walkways and other areas around my house.

With Bob, however, there was no debris. He removed the debris from the gutters, put it in into waste cans, and then unloaded into my dumpster. He was awesome. The work was thorough and quick. I am extremely happy with his work and asked him to call me in about six months to come again."

TV Antenna questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $100 to $500, depending on the issue, parts needed, and labor.

Outdoor TV antennas are often worth it, as the signals broadcast in your area are always stronger outside. If you have an indoor antenna that isn’t performing well, call a TV antenna installation company to come out and use a signal checker to see if a stronger signal is available on your roof, as it often will be. Outdoor antennas require longer cables, which can decrease the quality of the picture, but a professional should be able to find a position where cable length is minimized, and the available signal is strongest for ideal performance.

If you’re having problems with poor reception, here are some simple tips that may help improve the signal and picture quality.

  • Consider the position of the antenna: Could it be higher, is it secure, or are nearby obstructions interfering with the signal? For a directional antenna, you may need to reposition it in the direction of the broadcast tower.

  • Move any metallic objects: Metal can interfere or block reception, so if you have stainless steel objects or the antenna is near a wrought-iron fence, this could be a problem. Try to keep the antenna at least six feet away from metal objects..

  • Cable length: An overly long cable can reduce signal strength. If you don’t need as much cable as you are using, it may be better to exchange it for a shorter one.

Signal loss, loose mounts, cable damage, and weather-related wear often require repair.

Before investing in a TV antenna repair, there are a few steps you can take to help boost your signal quality. Removing obstacles like tree branches can help improve your signal strength. Along the same line, moving an indoor antenna away from obstacles can also help. These should be near a window, as high as possible. If these steps don’t work, speak with a TV antenna technician about a signal amplifier to help boost your signal even further.
