"Daniel and Blanca are an amazing team! Together, they worked on two great projects and provided excellent recommendations and service. I had interviewed different companies to prune my two trees. Their effort and lack of interest made a huge impression on me. They just did not care. So different with Daniel and Blanca! They are thoughtful, kind and so hard working. I look forward to building my dream yard with Soto Landscaping."

"Excellent work laying out a residential landscape using pine bark with river stone walkways lined by larger rocks creating decorative paths for low maintenance, water conserving and weed free garden access. Also pleased with light carpentry to repair fence gates, reinforce some wobbly fence posts, and also hauling away fallen branches and leaves. Always show up on time, review what is to be done and a walk-through afterwards to be sure I'm satisfied with everything. A polite and professional team. Have employed them several times this year, on the recommendation of a friend."

"We hired Diverse Scape Pools & Spas for a total landscape redesign of our front and backyard, and the results are beyond our wildest dreams. From the very start, Diverse Scape Pools & Spas listened carefully to our vision and provided excellent, creative suggestions that we hadn't even considered. The final design was a masterpiece, but the execution was even more impressive. The crew was professional, hardworking, and meticulously clean every day. The project involved everything from a new stone wall and paver patio to new plantings and landscape lighting, and the entire team handled it with incredible skill and attention to detail. The project stayed on schedule and on budget, and the communication throughout the process was excellent. We now have a stunning outdoor space that we get compliments on constantly. We are so grateful to Diverse Scape Pools & Spas for their phenomenal work and for making our yard a place we love to spend time in. Highly, highly recommend!"

Customers say: True professional

"Dan was very professional to work with. He was on time for appointments and respectful of our input at all phases. We had our back yard, courtyard and most of the front yard done in late February (there are still two areas in front that they will come back to complete after PG&E finishes some digging they are doing on our street). His knowledge of plants was very helpful in the selection process, and his prices were reasonable. The work his team did included sprinklers, drip system, lots of plants and some lighting. We look forward to having Generations come back and finish the project soon!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can absolutely transplant bushes instead of removing them completely. The success depends on the size of the bushes, their age, and the transplanting season. Ideally, transplant during the dormant season (late fall or winter). Dig out the entire root system in one piece, fill the new hole with fresh soil and mulch, and water thoroughly after planting.

The landscaping elements that add the most value are often the basics. A well-maintained, attractive lawn can have a return on investment (ROI) of up to 217%. Routine lawn maintenance, such as edging and mulching, can provide an ROI of over 100%. Other high-value projects include upgrading your front walkway, which can offer a 100% ROI, and planting trees. Projects like adding decks, patios, outdoor lighting, irrigation systems, fire pits, and outdoor kitchens also add value and enjoyment, though their direct financial ROI may be less than 100% in some cases.

Plant privet hedges at least 1 foot apart in a trench about 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep. It’s important to space privet hedges relatively far apart due to how quickly they grow to significant sizes and heights. You don’t want to crowd privet plants, or they could overcrowd each other, causing unwanted damage.

DIY landscaping is possible, but professional services offer expertise in selecting appropriate plants and designing functional spaces that complement the natural environment and adhere to local regulations.

A scattering of leaves won’t pose a problem through the winter, but a thicker layer of leaves may not decompose before the first frost and can instead weigh down your grass and harbor mold or fungi. A thick layer of leaves also cuts off light and air that grass needs to grow. That’s why we suggest removing thick leaf layers within several days if possible. If your lawn goes dormant over the winter and snow has already caught up with you, then remove the leaves in early spring before your grass-growing season starts so your lawn can thrive.
