"Carols Ibarra Landscaping was able to install a new irrigation control system that my previous landscapers could not figure out how to connect the new system. Carlos also was able to troubleshoot and figure out why 8 of newly plants shrubs planted by the prior landscaper all died. He treated the soil, dug larger holes for the roots, added more drip lines before planting the new shrubs. Carlos was able to set up the Smart Rachio controller system with zones for the new valves to water the plants appropriately. Carlos' crew works very hard and they can get busy but if you are patient for them to arrive, it is worth the wait!"

"These guys were great! We moved into a house and needed help understanding why our landscaping quickly started dying. Landscaping Bay Area carefully diagnosed and quickly fixed the issues, thoughtfully taught us about our system, and added lines to automate our yard care. Would absolutely recommend and use them again!"

"I received a notice on my front door from City of Roseville saying sprinkler in front lawn malfunctioning, water pouring out the side of the sprinkler and flooding gutter. They marked it with a blue flag. I called Joe Norgol/sprinkler doctor and explained the problem, he said he could come over at 5:30pm today. I agreed. He arrived promptly at 5:30pm. I requested he examine the entire sprinkler system to see if there were any other problems needing to be addressed. He did a thorough evaluation and made the necessary repairs and adjustments. He is very knowledgeable, he is a licensed contractor. He had the repairs completed and was finished in no time, it was 45 minutes altogether. The cost was $70 and I paid by check. He supplied an invoice of services rendered."

"The price was more than I wanted to pay. They had done work for me in the past and the work was always good. This time, the work was so so and they managed to break my sprinkler system and they didn't bother to fix that. I had talked to them about doing additional work, I want to replace the sod in my back yard and the sprinkler system too and I haven't been able to get anyone to call me back about that. The leader of their group came out, they did measure the yard and she said she would give me a call with an estimate and they never called. I just called a few days ago and still no one has called me back. The work was so so, they dragged the bush trimmings and the tree limbs out and managed to damage some of the paint on the side of my house. So it was just not quality work. I was disappointed with them this time. The pricing was way too much for what they do. I knew their price was kind of high, but their quality of work was much better in the past. They did show up when they said they would. Initially their work was supposed to take two days, but what I saw happening was them rushing through their work in one day and that's why the quality of it wasn't so good. They talked pretty good about what they were going to do. But it's a matter of doing the work, that's what it comes down to. Everybody was fine, there was no one that was rude or anything. I was about to get online and write some comments about them. To me, when you say you're going to call someone and say you're going to give them an estimate and you don't, and then I've called and said I was waiting on an estimate. I never got a call back and it's been about a week, I still haven't heard a thing. I need the work done, so I've got someone else to give me an estimate next week. I don't think I'll ever be doing anything with them again in the future."

"My wife and I have been contemplating on improving the landscaping in our front yard for the past 2 years. This year was perfect with timing and finances. We went with DYS since they were very local to us. There were other companies with more reviews and we almost went with another crew but I’m so glad we landed on DYS! There’re a lot of landscaping companies out there but the owner James, and his crew were top notch. James was thorough, answered all our questions, and walked us through their plans before breaking ground. We had our landscaping redone, a stunning paver walkway added, as well as a retaining wall installed. James was on site throughout the project and he and his crew were punctual and extremely nice and great at their craft. Can’t recommend Dependable Yard Service enough! Thank you James and DYS, we’ll be back for more."

Plant Watering questions, answered by experts

You can put certain types of plaster over other types, but doing so isn't always the best idea. For example, putting a coat of gypsum over lime plaster is possible, but doing so will limit the lime plaster's breathability and potentially affect its performance.

Since cement plaster tends to leave a textured surface, no matter how much you smooth it, some people prefer to use gypsum plaster as a topcoat over cement plaster, creating a smoother surface.

The cost to texture drywall depends on whether you want to do the work yourself or hire a professional. The cost of the drywall mud is far lower than labor costs for applying it. The labor cost to spray drywall compound onto a wall is between $0.80 and $1.50 per square foot, while you’ll pay between $1.50 and $2 per square foot for the labor to apply the texture by hand.

There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. However, drywall with paint, mold, or potential asbestos requires specialized disposal by a professional and should be kept out of your garden.

Beadboard is a decorative element and lacks the structural integrity of drywall. It cannot hold much weight and is not meant to be used as an insulator or moisture barrier, like drywall is. In almost all cases, beadboard is placed over an existing wall surface which, in modern days, is usually drywall, but decades ago could have been wood paneling.

The tool you use to sand plaster will depend on the size of the project. If you’re just working on a small section of your wall to get rid of an uneven spot on the surface, hand-sanding might work. However, for larger projects, a drywall sander can make a huge difference when it comes to both time and elbow grease—and an orbital sander can help for detailed areas such as around ceiling fans.
