"Les went above and beyond making sure that everything was sealed against the weather. He arrived when he said he would and completed the job in a very timely and professional manner and cleaned up at the end of every day. He took extra care to be sure our gate was always closed so our dogs wouldn't get out while he was working. The patio cover looks brand new and we're now ready for summer, thanks to Les. We will definitely be calling him again when the need arises. Thanks Les!!"

"Goodfellas took care of us when we needed it! We had a pipe burst between floors in our multi-level house this summer, ruining our downstairs kitchen, and effecting some cabinetry in our upstairs kitchen. Once we got that clean-up out of the way and got the insurance claim started, we started shopping around for contractors that could help us out. We had three different estimates, but Goodfellas was the least expensive while still meeting all our needs. Our project manager Danny really set up a plan that would fix the damage, while also giving our upstairs kitchen a much needed facelift. His crew foreman Nir, and his crew—especially Arnold—was very helpful and efficient. It was easy to communicate with Nir via phone and text, and I would say I spoke to Danny via email at least a few times a week. Danny was really helpful in matching our new cabinets to the paint choice I had made for the remaining cabinets. They both made sure we were happy with each step and installment, or they fixed it until we were. We even ran into some insurance trouble midway through, putting a halt on our funds for the project. After explaining the whole nightmare to Danny, he was patient and waited with us until Nationwide could pull it together to help us finish this project. And once the final money was approved, Danny’s crew was quick to finish up the kitchen so that we could return once again to our normal lives. In short, they met our demands easily and did the project quickly and proficiently. Whenever there was a confusion or problem, it was easily communicated and handled. The crews were friendly and respectful of my family and house. Arnold went out of his way to make sure my kitchen upstairs was exactly how I wanted it, even down to giving me choice of threshold trim when he could have just slapped down any ol’ trim and I probably wouldn’t have noticed. And he always had a quick smile for my children. I would recommend this company to anyone needing work done in their home."

Attention to detail, micro management and great customer service is what its all about. Anyone can be a contractor and perform home improvement services, but only a select few do it with out causing heartache and large amounts of stress to the client. We pride ourselves by being one of the few, knowing that we treat your house as if it were ours, with respect.\nwe believe that a great kitchen, bathroom, addition, or general remodel can be a fun stress free process, and it all starts with the right contractor.\nWe offer great service, free estimates by the head contractor and no home improvement sales reps. that charge an arm and a leg, from start to finish there is only one captain, and that is what gets the job done.

"I had used them before for my own house, but  not sure if they could drive all the way to Anaheim to fix my parent's driveway. They had no issue assigning a team to their place, after the work they did, I already knew a good job was expected. I gave the options to my parents, and they liked the ideas I pitched them. They did a simple driveway, nicely done and was stamped concrete."

"Tl;dr: Easy to work with: 5 stars, super easy to work with Customer Service: 5 stars, really great customer service Quality: 4.2 stars, there was some less-than-perfect work. Most of it addressed. We had a major remodel done with these guys, and they were super easy to work with. Great customer service and very attentive and in communication. No issues at all with how the work was coordinated, scheduled, performed,. The coordinator we worked with (Valko) was excellent. Listened to us and was accommodating when we needed him to be. There are a couple of marks taken away for some quality issues with the finishing work: some parts of the subfloor on remodeled areas (not part of the addition) were not repaired perfectly, and the floor bows slightly and creaks in a couple of spots. One door frame is not plumb. Some of the painting was done a little sloppily. The tile in the shower and bath is not 100% perfectly straight. Overall, would recommend, they do good work and are great to work with."

"I was very pleased with Brigada in general, they were very professional and punctual with everything they did. We had multiple locations across our small HOA that needed exterior board replacement, stucco work and finish painting for all the projects involved. The work was approached over a week, which I feel that other vendors may have tried to brush off this project as small and not take the time needed to do a good job. Everything that was replaced looks like it has been apart of the complex from the beginning, meaning the fit and finish of all the work made it look like it was there all along and was not a bad replacement job. This aspect was very important to us as we have had other exterior work done that the details of type of wood and paint were not paid attention to and it ended up standing out like a sore thumb. The onsite crew were courteous professional and a joy to have around. After much research I had a hard time having any contractors able to want to even consider this job and was so happy that Brigada ended up coming out and doing the estimate and job for us. Highly recommend them to anyone reading this.

"I bought the Big Deal which was just for a single top coat to reseal the deck surface.  However, my deck was in a little bit worse shape than the deal allowed.  However, Ryan was awesome and added in sanding and then did the reseal for no additional charge.  The surface is not perfect but that is due to the rough pre-condition it was in and not his fault.  Shortly after the reseal the deck drains started leaking in to the garage below.  Ryan and crew came out again to fix the drain at no additional cost.  Again, this was not in the deal I bought but they provide such great customer service.  I would definitely use them again and will recommend them to friends and neighbors!

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

The proper height for a stair riser or deck step is between four and seven inches, with seven inches often considered the most comfortable. Building your stairs to this height ensures a strain-free step position and minimizes the risk of trip and fall injuries. For optimal safety and comfort, especially on deck stairs, a rise of around seven inches should be paired with a tread depth (or run) of at least 10 to 12 inches. While it is possible to design stairs with risers up to 12 inches, this height can be challenging for children, pets, or individuals with mobility issues. Always check with your local building codes, as they may mandate specific dimensions that differ from these general recommendations.

For a 12x20-foot (240-square-foot) deck, you can expect to pay between $7,200 and $14,400. This cost is based on a general price of $30 to $60 per square foot. The final price will depend on factors such as the decking material, design complexity, deck type, location, and local labor costs. Keep in mind that add-ons will increase the total; for example, adding an under-deck drainage system to a deck of this size could cost an additional $7,700.

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.

The overhang, or nosing, of deck steps is another area that will be covered in building code requirements. The noses on your deck steps should have a minimum overhang of ¾ inch. For safety, usability, and code compliance, the nosing of deck steps should not extend past 1¼ inches.

It is recommended to clean your deck once or twice a year to prevent the accumulation of dirt, debris, mold, and mildew. The ideal times for cleaning are in the spring and fall. A spring cleaning removes grime that has built up over the winter, preparing your deck for summer use. A fall cleaning washes away messes from summer activities, preventing them from setting into the wood over the winter. The exact frequency can depend on factors such as how often the deck is used, its exposure to pollen, and whether salt was used on it during the winter. Regular cleaning helps protect the wood and its finish from damage.
